FATHER RYAN VS MBA

Hillsboro is a 4A school. They tied a Franklin 5A team that is 4-3-1 this year. Franklin was ripped by McCallie. Beating up on smaller public schools is not a big feather in MBA??™s cap. Antioch is 4-4 and lost their first 4 games. Independence is 5-3 and played MBA while in emotional turmoil over the suspension of their starting QB. Baylor is 1-7. JP II is 0-8. Both Ryan and MBA beat Ensworth.

Other than BA, who has MBA beaten that is better than the McCallie and BGA teams that Ryan beat?

Ryan??™s defensive strength is against the run. They are big up front on both sides of the ball. No one has been able to run on them consistently all season. MBA is going to have to open it up and air it out to beat them??”something that the MBA staff has hesitated to do in big games. Throwing the ball has not been an MBA strength since Michael Fisher was the QB.

Ryan college prospects who are seniors:

Ryan Berry TB

Josh Hayes TB/LB

Tim Schmid OL/DL

John Brown C/DL

Matt Nicholls DL

Kevin Mix TE/LB

Michael Goodrum FB/LB

All of these fellows could play at the OVC level and several are D1 prospects.

To make a long answer short: Hillsboro. All of that will have nothing to do with tonight, this one has all the makings of a classic. Hope it lives up to it.

From a Father Ryan Fan, Congrats to the Big Red...That was a good ole fashion A...whipping....MBA`s ground game was spectacular...The three back rotation simply wore down the Irish...and the MBA defense never let Ryan get anything meaningful going...The MBA touchdown right before the half on the 4th down QB sneak effectively ended the game....Ryan did not get a first down until the third quarter...It was stunning how bad the Irish defensive line was shredded by the MBA backs time after time......They had played pretty well up until tonight...It`s clear to me that Ryan is still a notch below the big boys in D-II...I fear the same will happen next week at BA....There is clearly too much smack talking and not enough playing being done by some on the Ryan team.....On a bright note, Punter Mitchell Stoffer had a good workout tonight and boomed some good punts...........The crowd at Greer was tremendous, I`d say around 7,000.......You can say what you want , but Ryan fans do support their team.......11 in a row by the Big Red over the Irish....I see no end in sight....

Wow 3yards...that's some football team you have there....with all those college prospects and size how to you explain that 26-0 smackdown (with no first downs in the first half) MBA put on Ryan tonight?

MBA handled Ryan with relative ease. Vinsang + Waddey played exceptional and Wise did very well at QB. Preston Bailey showed why he got a full ride to UT by absolutely obliterating whoever lined up in front of him.

Good win for the big red!

Yeah absolutly obliterating them?? Watch the game closely and you will realize that MBA's line was the cheapest line. They held every single play on offense.

Preston Bailey is the cockest man. Beating your chest??? Get some class. Thats not the only personal foul they should have had either. He is big, yes. Not SEC talent though, along with #2. #2 didn't do anything but a few 2 yard gains. Must be the last name for #2.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
