Certainly Doc has the ability to coach and win. Personel may be young this year though and Gereld has moved on in pretty good fashion. To be fair, MLK has not played yet. They start on Nov. 27 against Brentwood Academy. No matter how young, I would expect them to be athletic and well coached.

No doubt on the well coached part. I like watching Doc coach. It is pure entertainment. Don't care what you think of him, you can't say that he can't coach. He has taken some teams to state that have had much less talent than teams that didn't make it that far. The team that he had that beat Corey Brewer in the regionals was really fun to watch, they had Johnny Lee and Robinson was a Fr or So., can't remember which.

MLK has Antoine Christian (Jr), Justin Smith (Sr), and Prince (Sr) returning. As a MLK fan, I can't tell you who will start tonight, but keep your eyes on Antoine he can really "light it up!" We have the Freshman City Championship team moving up to varsity so this year should be interesting. Give them a year to marinate. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I think they will play spoiler this year.

well MLK might be better off than everybody thinks. they lost by only two to BA tonight and were down by 20 at one point in the 2nd half, although BA was missing any players that played football. Antoine Christian performed very well along with sophmore David Sanders and senior Prince Peters. overall i was impressed especially with their pressure towards the end of the game that allowed them to close the gap. i haven't seen any of the other teams in their region but they looked like they have a good potential, as they do just about every year. maybe everyone should be thinking about a higher spot than 4 in their region

every team in this district has played at least one game this year expect for pearl-cohn. They were schedule to play Hillsboro on November 16 and then their next game was suppose to be held this friday against Hunters lane at Pearl-cohn but that game got held back to next wedensday due to Firebird football game at home on friday. I think them not playing thier first game yet, does more harm than it does help, especially in a loaded district this year

Why was BA missing football players if they are done?

I suppose they need more than 3 days to change gears.

i'm pretty sure there is some sort of a TSSAA rule about having to wait a week before participating in another sport. alot of our wrestlers and a couple freshman basketball players that played with hillsboro haven't been able to participate because of their game on friday against maplewood

absolutelyno one really knows who he is but he has great handles, an insane wingspan, stroke from anywhere on the court, and great knowledge of the gamethis team wants to win badly and WILL be in the running for the district when it comes down to the end

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
