Great job by the Lipscomb coaching staff. I really thought Bolivar would stick to what they do best, in between the tackles and quick slants. David Lipscomb's players play with heart and discipline. Opposing teams seen to want to put in special packages, a touch of trickery and somehow come to the conclusion they can "out-smart" Lipscomb. You have to line up and play YOUR game. Teams need to quit worrying about what Lpscomb is going to do. They do the same thing every game. Until a team lines up against them and believes in what THEY do, no one will beat them. Great job guys. Fantastic group of young men playing as a team.

Bolivar started off great with the early 14-0 lead. The problem is that you don't beat David Lipscomb in the 1st quarter just ask Creekwood, Giles Co., or Marshall Co. They all had early success against the mustangs, but got routed in the end.

Bolivar did try and do more than they needed. They passed too much and tried to run jet sweeps that were not necessary. They could have made it a closer game by patiently running the ball between the tackles....don't think they would have won, but it would have been closer.

David Lipscomb's team is very good at continuing to play their hard even when down. The mustang offense was awesome as usual. That was no surprise or knock on Bolivar. You can't get a look from a scout team on the speed of the DL wing-t.

Key plays that did in Bolivar.

1.) The shanked punt that gave DL the short field.

2.) Three poor decisions/execution on kickoff return giving them bad starting position.

3.) The incomplete playaction pass on 3rd and 1.

4.) The missed FG before the half.

5.) The kickoff coverage at the start of the 2nd half=short field for Lipscomb.

6.) Both interceptions. Poor design/execution/decisions lead to short field for Lipscomb.

Bolivar should not feel to bad.

Middle Tennessee knows how good David Lipscomb is.

The Tigers can say that they were one of the last eight teams in 3A playing...and that is pretty nice!

I would like to see David Lipscomb stay focused and win the whole, dang thang!

Congrats to David Lipscomb on the BIG WIN tonight. Next week's trip to Memphis to play 8-3A #1 Seeded Mitchell should be quite interesting. I look for the Mustangs to play 4 GREAT QUARTERS of football in that one.

Congrats to Bolivar on a great season!!!!!

DL WONT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH MITCHELL; THEY"VE PLAYED BETTER TEAMS ALL YEAR. TORRY PLAYED THE GAME OF A LIFETIME AGAINST DHS LAST WEEK BUT REGRESSED TO HIS USUAL SELF TONIGHT AGAINST HAYWOOD WITH MITCHELL "BARELY" PULLING IT IT OUT IN A POORLY PLAYED PLAYOFF GAME ?? BY BOTH HAYWOOD AND MITCHELL SHOULD GIVE DL A WARM FEELING TRAVELING TO MEMPHIS TO PLAY MIITCHELL . DL WINS AND GOES TO THE "BORO" !! CONGRATS TO BOLIVAR ON A GREAT SEASON. 1ST TIME PLAYING AGAINST DL IS NOT WHAT ANY TEAM WANTS TO EXPERIENCE.

I think Mitchell is a real threat to DL. They have beaten every 3A school in their way, I don't see how DL won't have any problems with them.

Couldn't agree more with you Montague1. I would guess that Mitchell has been dreaming of another shot at the Mustangs ever since the 2002 Blue Cross Bowl game. They are obviously a talented, athletic team to make it to the semi-finals, and they get to play at home. Both teams are quick to the ball on defense and have multiple weapons on offense. This should be a great game.

"Bolivar is playing it too quiet. Smart move. Bolivar in a upset by 10.

THEY DONT USUALLY RESPOND ON THE BOARDS- MUST NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS SITE OR NOT MEMBERS. DL FANS KNOW AND READ BUT DONT RESPOND EXCEPT FOR A VERY FEW THAT ARE NOT DL FANS ONLY JUMPING ON THE DL BANDWAGON TO SUPPORT THEIR REGION AFTER DL HAS WON THE REGION. BOLIVAR WILL NOT WIN TONIGHT!!!!!!"

Bolivar fans DO know about the site, are members of the site, and do respond to some comments. However, some comments aren't worth responding too, especially when you are the underdog.

Congratulations Tigers to a great season! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

HOMEFIELD IS A PLUS FOR THE TIGERS. SHOULD TORRY / WRS HAVE ANOTHER BREAKOUT GAME AS THEY DID AGAINST DHS THEY WIILL BE VERY HARD TO BEAT BY ANYONE. HOPEFULLY HE WONT PLAY B/B FOR MITCHELL THIS WEEK AND PREPARE FOR DL. IT WILL BE A GREAT GAME IF MITCHELL FOCUSES "ONLY" ON DL !! GO TIGERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was crazy, I have never heard of a player in the football playoffs playing in a basketball game during the week. I understand that he is a stellar basketball player too, but they need that kid on the field. Right now all the basketball games are meaningless any, why play football players in a playoff week?. I have tremendous respect for Galiee, but someone should have stepped in and stopped that from happening.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
