ballbasher30
Both games last night were exciting. Fairview found some offense late to get past MC. But the game of the night was Waverly-Sycamore. Purcell frustrated Sycamore all night. Sycamore played like a team that has already secured a region spot and are just waiting for next Monday. They obvisouly didn't come ready to play and it cost them. Two big plays in the game happened in the bottom of the first and top of the second. In the bottom of the 1st, with two outs and runner on second the Waverly shortstop made a sick diving catch and throw to end the inning on what should have been a base hit up the middle. Then in the top of the second with two outs and runners on first anf second, Sycamore's shortstop made a horrible throw to second on a routine grounder. One run scored on the play and the second was thrown out. Proved to be the only run of the game. Sycamore had their shots. Tyler Guye gets a walk, then promptly gets picked off, but as he was running to second the throw hits him in the back and deflects to the shortstop. If he slides into second he is safe, but pulled up and goes in standing up and is tagged out. In the sixth, Sycamore had first and third and two outs with Walker up and he goes down swinging to end the inning. Then in the bottom of the seventh, they get a lead off hit, he goes to second on a wild ptich. Sycamore tries to bunt him over and the runner got a late break and gets thrown out at third. Next batter hits a fly ball that would have scored the runner if the bunt had been executed. With two outs, the last Sycamore batter takes a called third strike right down the pipe. This puts Waverly in a great spot to advance. If Sycamore beats Fairview at 430, Waverly and Sycamore will both go to the regions. Really, does any one think Fairview has a shot in this game? If Fairview does puill a miracle and win, Waverly and Fairview will play for a shot to advance. In this situation only the tournament winner will advance with Sycamore so a 2nd place finish and your season is over. If Fairivew pulls a huge miracle and wins two today, they will play Waverly again on Thursday. If Fairvie can pull off two wins, this would be the biggest miracle I have every seen in baseball. With the rain last night, how is the field ad Creek Wood looking?

It was matt graham that got picked off at second... dont you think the district mvp would know to slide into second
ksgovols
Not necessarily FroMan. Not sure where Sycamore is in their rotation. They may have a deep enough staff to hold off Fairview who's to their #3 or #1 with short rest. Waverly will get another day's rest for Baggett, but they're not in great shape pitching wise beyond Purcell and Baggett. The difference between finishing 1 or 2 is Bolivar (22-10) or Lexington (26-4).
ftblledge14
sycamore actually goes very deep in their pitching depth. they have about 5 guys that can get the job done if calld upon

With the rain last night, how is the field ad Creek Wood looking? The field at Creek Wood is on time! It didn't rain too much last night so the field is looking right. Great day for baseball, but then again everyday is! It should be a great matchup tonight if everything goes right and Sycamore beats Fairview. I think Sycamore will be ready to play tonight and we'll see another game tommorrow.
