Well with much respect to E Mitch, Eugene, Nat Aar, Chad C......You gotta go with Joe Amonett don't ya? Won it in 95, runner up in 93. One, if not the best players ever to come from the upper cumberland, played at Wake Forrest. Free throws go a long way in the clutch department, and he was like over 95% for his career, so thats my pick. What's yours?

Yes, I agree. Joseph Amonett had, I believe, the best single season as a PC player in 1995. I know a few games he got his point average by hitting many free throws in the game, particularly the Clarkrange games. As far as clutch, the one shot that stands out as the most clutch shot, I believe goes to Nathan Aaron. The shot against Chattanooga Christian in the sectional game at Chattanooga State. Winning that game did a lot for those boys and for the PC program and I believe help spring the state tournament run during the early 2000s, but it was pretty unbelievable. Also, I believe PC would have won the State Tournament in 2001? the year they went something like 33-2, if they kept feeding Aaron the rock, he was on fire that game, 6-6 from the 3pt line I believe. Also, a case can be made for being clutch is E. Mitchell in the 1990 state tournament game against Moore Co., I believe, when he practically won the game for PC.

Eric Mitchell's performance was actually against Bradford in the 90 semi's. I was just talking to my brother the other day about that game. Had 42 for the game. At that time it was a top 2 or 3 single A state tourney performance. But what was so incredible was he had 21 in the 4th quarter and 14 of the teams last 15 all in the last 90 seconds or so of the game. Bradford had a kid named David Street. He and Mitchell were in a slug fest that 4th quarter (the whole game really). One of the best boys games I ever saw.

The Moore County game was the first round and I think they were ranked #1 coming in. Eugene Parris had 35 that game and a dunk. Would have had 50+, but missed 11 or 12 Free throws with 6 or 7 frontends of a 1 and 1. That was a good performance as well.

That team did not have the best overall record (can't exactly remember but like 24-8) of some the teams PC has had but was certainly one of the best. The very next year they were great as well. I think they were 30-3 with your team knocking them out in the state tourney.

What are you referring to with "your team knocking them out in the state tourney" Are you thinking CASC stands for Chattanooga Arts and Science?

Yea I was. Sorry, I should have said Arts and Science. I was thinking that's what CASC stood for. That's what I get for thinking. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I knew that it's CSAS. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />

I was only like 5 when PC won its first State Championship, so i don't know that much about that team, but that team layed the foundation for PC to dominate 7a basketball and be in contention for years. I mean you can't even count the number of players who came through PC from 90-95, amazing tallent.....Mitchell, Parris, Smith, Both the older Crouch's, Meadows, Melton, Beasley, Amonett, they had serious players in every class for years. PC didn't really slack off until 97-98, 98-99 when they had to dip down into the 8th graders to get J. Crouch Aaron, and Adam Asberry. And ever since then they have been back, but I don't think any where to the same success that those earlier to mid 90s teams did. Last year was the first district tournament title they had won since 01-02. So hopefully they can capture another one tomorrow night.

PC has one of if not the best tradition in Men's basketball in the state since the early 90's. Not sure why the Asberry's left up there but had they stayed i do believe that Pickett might have had another state championship but i could be wrong.

The Asberry's left because their dad Steve got a job at Upperman, along with their mom. It had something to do with Mitchell getting fired and either A. Brent Smith getting the job, or B. Steve not actually getting the job himself. But I heard something a while back, that if Bibb had gotten the job after 00-01 season (which he applied for) the Aberry's would have stayed in Byrdstown. PC might have two more state championships. When Aaron was here all he needed was the inside presense that Adam gave him every year before. Thats exactly why we lost that first round game in the 02 state tourny, they just stayed on Aaron because he was the only one that could score. And Alan, he would have almost certainly helped PC in 04-05, maybe even 03-04, those two years PC had a path paved to state but couldn't do anything with it.

Yeah i almost forgot about Alan's older brother he was a very good player. Losing him must have been gutwrenching for the whole team especially the players. Thats almost on the equivelant of L. Leonard transferring to JC on the girls side. Now that you say that i am sure PC would have won that year if Adam had stayed there.

    • Upperman White County both will be loaded. Dyersbirg and South Side will be a handful as well. Getting about that time in about 3 weeks we start watching summer scrimmages. Dyersburg loaded loaded loaded with talent. Most talent ever I have seen in their program.
    • We, SP, blanked them 10-0 in sectional game during 21 season.
    • The amount of people pooing on UH is crazy. They're a noticably better team than last year when they made state and were competitive , AND they run ruled Eagleville a few weeks ago. Now I understand Eagleville was missing a few guys, but they still. They. Run. Ruled. Eagleville. 1st single A team to run rule Eagleville since when? Pre 2017??
    • If that Yellow Paint is all gone I'll flat bet it didn't wash off there. I bet that took some scrubbing to remove that if it is gone. Lacrosse is one of those northern sports all these misplaced Yankee's that are posion to the community brought in by  (Blount Partnership, ( The Devil) with them so somebody allowed them to paint their markings on the field that cost more than the twenty top people on payroll at Maryville make a year. All this to please the 1% Club and the 25 people that would come to see it. All in the name of WOKE!!!!!!
    • They will probably, struggle
