piratetom
Congratulations on the new lockers...they look great. It's been a long time coming. Being an avid S Pitt Fan and Alumni, I for one would like to see your program get back to where it once was.....the rivalry is still great, but just think what it could be...again!! Good luck in the upcoming year.....see ya on the Gridiron!!

I think the rivalry is still going strong. SP has won the last two meetings but since 1996 it has been going back and forth. No team has completely dominated the other the last 12 years. That is what makes this rivalry so great.
OLD PIRATE
Old Pirates says, Wild Bill , good post, but... SP nor Jasper won state championships in 1995. "Old Pirate stands corrected"!
diehardpurple
Old Pirates says, Wild Bill , good post, but... SP nor Jasper won state championships in 1995. Marion Conty beat Humbolt in 95 for the state championship
Bill#49
Old Pirates says, Wild Bill , good post, but... SP nor Jasper won state championships in 1995. Jasper didn't win a state championship in 1995 BUT the Marion County Warriors defeated Humboldt 28 - 7. Back-to-Back championships a matter of fact. In 1994, MC defeated Portland 43 - 14. South Pittsburg won the 1994 state championship BUT went 14 - 1 with their only defeat coming to the Marion County Warriors 6 - 0 on an Eric Westmoreland interception return for the only touchdown to the best high school football game I have been a part of!! wardawg2038
Bill#49 is right. OP I wouldn't question Bill's knowledge on the history of MARION COUNTY football! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> From 1992-1995 the Warriors won 3 of 4 state titles. That group of Players who were freshman in 1992 went 56-1 in their 4 year high school career. They won AA and AAA state titles. The only year they were not state champs was 1993 when they were upset by Kingston. If my memory is correct they beat Brentwood Acad.(AA) in 1992, Portland(AAA) in 1994 and Humbolt(AAA) in 1995. Great teams and coaches during that era!!

But you jasper folks would know more about that than this Old Pirate. OP knew of their run but obviously had the years wrong. Old Pirate says Bill#49 has to be a transplant or else he would know jasper is and always will be jasper to the valley folks other than the purple clad warriors. OP wonders........ where he comes from, not jasper and "certainly" not from any surrounding program. OP could be corrected again, if so please feel free. OLD PIRATE
Marion Conty beat Humbolt in 95 for the state championship Old Pirate says, diehard, you "must have" been a fence jumper (a tag most would show immediate dislike too) or else you would have responded strongly to my posts wondering about what appears to be your mental confusion. Old Pirate says there is something about your posts that OP has a difficult time reasoning out. Oh well, you could also be a Bama fan, that would really mean you need some type of medication. Bill#49
Old Pirate says maybe too many skillets to the head. That is a possibility OP thought that run ended with Westmoreland (Eric) as a senior. It did Eric graduated in the spring of 96 But you jasper folks would know more about that than this Old Pirate. OP knew of their run but obviously had the years wrong. Old Pirate says Bill#49 has to be a transplant or else he would know jasper is and always will be jasper to the valley folks just to the pin-heads in South Pitt and WhitVegas other than the purple clad warriors. OP wonders........ where he comes from, not jasper and "certainly" not from any surrounding program. It doesn't matter where Bill is from. What is important is that he is a MARION COUNTY WARRIOR now!! OP could be corrected again, and again, and again, and again... if so please feel free. Great teams and coaches during that era!! 1990 defeated Memphis University School for the school's first state championship. 1992 Undefeated 15 - 0 defeated Brentwood Academy. BA's seniors left the silver ball and their broken hearts on the field at Vanderbilt field. 1994 Undefeated 15 - 0 defeated Portland 1995 Undefeated 15 - 0 defeated Humboldt Fantastic athletes during that stretch. It is a testimony to those kids and their families that perserved during the ups and downs of those seasons that made it all possible. Great coaches during that run. Ken Colquette, Johnny Grimes, Don Stewart, Jerry Tate, Landon Pickett, Larry Richards, Eddie Reed and a few others I don't remember. Great administration - Mr. Bill Baxter!! A great deal of community support as well.
OLD PIRATE
Old Pirate thought Eric was a senior when Perry Hutchins was a senior, but after a little investigation OP found out he was a senior when Cory Tipton was a senior. OP would guess just too many skillets since that time. Coach Wilson coached Eric in an allstar game, perhaps that is what confused this Old Pirate. Old Pirate says being called a pin head is a huge step up from what the wife calls OP. Old Pirate says show a little sympathy here, you'll probably do good to be as alert as this OP when you reach the twilight years Bill. However, OP was correct on you not being from these parts, it shows, Ha!
