How many pitchers throw for one team at a time? It takes guts to pick a 10-person team in a sport that plays 9 at a time.

Well the whole point of picking a team like that would be to have the best line-up if that team were to actually play a game...how often does one pitcher throw the entire game? not much. the all mid-state team would be equivalent to the NFL picking an All-Pro team...and they pick more than one QB for those teams...

when i went to watch cascade and richland play some of the cascade fans told me he signed to play at vanderbilt

He may be going to attend Vanderbilt and walkon the baseball team but I am not sure they would give him any baseball $$$$$. The last thing that was being floated around is they were trying to get it worked out for Stewart to walkon at Belmont or Volunteer State as a pitcher.

Corban was a 4th Round Draft Pick by the New York Yankee's not a 5th Round got to give the kid credit, the best organization (IMO) in major league baseball liked him that much and his numbers don't lie, I think he deserved MVP. Seth is a great pitcher and was selected high as well he should have been on the team I agree.

the tennessean writers don't really cover sports at all...they basically go by word of mouth. You really don't think they went through all the stats of the high school kids around and picked the best ones do you? If that was the case then some of the best players with a mediocre year would not have been chosen. For instance, Jacob Stallings (don't get me wrong he is phenomenal player) would never have been chosen batting only .333 with only 31 RBIs this season. Surely there are more catchers with better stats... Also, in my opinion, more than one pitcher should have been chosen for each team. Any thoughts?

I agree there probably were catchers with better offensive numbers than Stallings, but watching him, there is NO one better defensively and he lead his team to a state championship by throwing in the championship game on two days rest after catching every other game... he IS the best catcher in the state.

Did the professional organizations not select Ramsey (Farragut) in the draft and pass over Stallings? Would he have even been the starting catcher at BA if Lundborg had not had the back injury that forced him to miss the season? Stallings has the better arm but Lundborg is a better receiver and he can hit for a higher BA and SLUG %.

    • Best-of-three sectional series vs East Robertson at home starting Wednesday.  They put us out last year at this point.  Go Pirates!!
    • I don't believe they have anyone that is surbers caliber but a decent staff overall.
    • Richland plays at McKenzie on Wed.  Should be a good series.  Does Richland have good pitching?
    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
