There are a few questions I need to know.

Is the school where he practiced his asinged or is it a transfer school.

If he practiced wirhout an aproved transfer that is a problem.

If he did practice and want to transfer you need to contact Ronnie Carter.

In Memphis you attend any school when leaving middle to high school, that is in uour favor.

I had to edit, this is basketball and there is no spring practice. If he has not enrolled or transfered he is eliglible. I was thinking football.

spring practice for baskeetball was reinstated this year, If he is enrolled in school a and practiced with the team in the spring he may be ineligible for school b next year.

My question what was so bad about school a that he is already tranferring

If he is Varsity ready of coarse. Even if you are inelligible, you can still participate in freshmen or jv if I am not mistaken. Being inelligible only applies to varsity athletics. I am right here?

You are correct.... Eligibility only applies to varsity athletics. He could play JV or 9th grade ball at school B, but would have to sit out of varsity play for 12 months..... Good call Coach...

I don't believe you are correct on this one. Just because they practice does not make them "ineligible". I am pretty sure he would have had to actually played in a game to be ineligble and there are no games in the spring. He is coming from the 8th grade he can transfer to any school he likes as he was NOT enrolled in high school at the time so therefore he IS eligible! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

I'm pretty sure i'm right on this one. The rules state that you have to actually be "enrolled" at said high school and have to have played in a "varsity" game to be considered ineligible to move without relocating.

Do you have to meet both of these requirements to be ineligible or just one of either. If you do not play in a varsity game your freshman year, can you transfer without sitting out?

I think there is going to be alot of these between our local area D1 privates. Already heard talk of parents wanting to transfer from the larger to the smaller..........sad, I think.

Thanks

    • I've always been a football fan first and then if you have a band that's awesome. No question that DB has one of the best bands in the country and the whole region should attend at least one DB game just to see their band. I don't know if Nick Saban could come to Kingsport and build a football program that could match the Dobyns Bennett band's success. That said,as mentioned before, a couple of things would have to change in order for the Tribe to just win a state championship on the field.Besides a program that starts from the peewee teams and goes all the way to J Fred with all coaches and weight training { in time }on the same page. Sometimes it also takes a little luck like the 1998 Vols .There are a lot of great athletes at a lot of big schools around the state and just because you want something doesn't mean your going to build a program like Alcoa has. Yes,start at the bottom and have guys that are quality coaches teaching at every level is 100% the first step. Parents can make it a lot easier by getting their young athletes into an early start with conditioning and weights as well when they are old enough to lift.If your son is a man in the weight room before he gets to DB , then it won't take a "Dobbs" coach to make him competitive against other schools athletes when it comes to strength.
