I was reading the standard banner about the qb dilemma. I was wondering if u all could catch me up on a few things. Ok Mcfall has over 2500 rushing yds in his career at jchs. Why would u move him and put him at qb. This seems to be happening alot nowadays in hs football a kid that is a stand out is moved to qb and in most cases he is no where near as good as his original pos. Why not just give it to the darby kid, who seems to be the more trained qb and let him pitch it to mcfall.

Darby has never played a full season of football. Last year was the first time to play and he gpt injured. I would not consider him more trained. McFall can run this offense. Did not see scrimmage but I bet the line did not block very well. How was the play calling by Buster?

McFall was originally a QB. He was moved to RB as a freshman when Shiverdecker transfered to Alcoa. He can obviously run, but he can also throw the ball. He is intelligent and savvy and would/will make a great QB if that is where he sticks. Is only negative is that he is about the size of a Keebler Elf. Good Luck Christian and all the Patriots!

McFall appreciates the compliments from you. And he remembers all the short/elf jokes as well. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Christian is a special young man, I will remember him and all that he did as a freshman and sophmore, on and off the field. Hope everything goes well in JC.

Not well would be a compliment to how the line blocked, JC couldn't have beaten a middle school team blocking how they did friday.

We tried some different things offensively, but it was mostly done with the 2nd team and with the way the line was blocking none of it worked all that well.

you seem high on coach anthony and it seems several people have the same opinion. did you play for him and what years because most people on here probably do not know who he is or when he coached. also i thought jeff co ran the veer, what is the "true veer' you speak of? im curious.

The premise that any one player is going to automactically get the ball and everyone is keying on him is bogus. Following that line you have just taken your best player out of the game based on what might or might not happen. McFall did play a lot of different positions last yr and did a great job. If you'll look at the region stats, Brooks was the leading rusher for the team last year and second in the region just behind Works from Bearden with Mcfall not far behind. Both combined for over 2000+yds rushing. We need a QB so it makes sense to put Mcfall in. He can either run from the snap, give to Brooks or Toliver, or pass. Mcfall has gained alot in size and strength this year. Darby, McFall and Brooks all bench over 300+lbs and squat over 350lbs. One concern is playing your starting QB on both sides plus special teams. The D didn't look all that good with the exception of #40 and #31. Also is McFall still on kick/punt return? Ben Moore could step in and do a great job in this slot. All of this a moot point however if the O line doesn't do it's job. It would also be nice to see the D blitz a little more and put some pressure on the QB.

JC for life or Onewhoknows: What are the passing, rushing, tackles etc... records at JC and set by whom???

You got me, I know Ricky Upton holds the single season rushing record with something in the neighborhood of 1,800, only reason I know that one is because Chris Shiverdecker was close to breaking it in 2004. The rest I have no idea about, DZ may know.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
