One, I wasn't bragging about it.

Two, I was hoping to inform you all since someone wondered about them.

Three, one of your own, Joe Case is the coach and is doing a great job bringing them along

Fourth, the brag was your condescending retort of a post

Fifth, I could care less if either team wins

For clarity purposes, I am a fan of the Greene Devils, a 3A team that plays 4A and will probably not give you much of a game. I have always enjoyed talking to Jeff posters and have actually pulled for your resurgance as a program.

First time in 6 years I have ran into that type of post with a good patriot.

I suppose I should say that I`m sorry if my post came off as condescending, but JC is put in a lose lose situation by playing West Greene.

1. We pound West Greene, we learn very little about our team because what did we truly accomplish? Guys may look like superstars, but it won't mean a hill of beans because the level of competition won't be the same once the season starts. Last I checked, scrimmages are suppose to help you get ready for the season. Plus all the haters and naysayers will strike up with "so what JC pounded a 2A school coming off a 1 win season"

2. We struggle with West Greene, bridges and houses are burned down within the county because horror of horror we struggled with a 2A team that won 1 game the year before. And all the haters and naysayers strike up with "You struggled with a 2A school coming off a 1 win season"

All your points are valid. If Coach A plays the younger guys he can allow untried players to excell or fail that might show what you have as supporting cast for a pretty strong group of players on the first team.

JC could focus on the specialty teams ( punt 4 times bring it back ect. you get the drift) against people you haven't seen before or will see again

2 series with first on both D and O

I believe you will have to be a little creative but you could have a good scrimmage but not in the traditional way.

No sorry needed, just wasn't like you.

But Duuuuuuddddddeeeeee!!!!!!! it's just a scrimmage. No sense knocking on CC and West Greene cause you think you think they aren't good enough to PRACTICE against. Maybe you should go find your happy place JC, till the season starts...i don't want you to implode before basketball season /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

I hope Jeff Co's defense has a plan or its gonna be a long year. Basically we need another Allen. Don't get me wrong the D is there to make a play but just can't seem to get'm down sometimes. At least at Knox Central anyway.

You're right Thurs is a no win situation but at least its time on the field against another team. Glad to have'm come down.

Agree again!!

I think Coach Anderson is going to have to consider putting some guys on the field both ways....Brooks will help. After watching our DB's attempt to tackle...maybe put McFall in on 3rd downs. He made some plays at Science Hill last year that help us win. I think that Terrance should play more offense. If 3 yr letterman that are seniors can't play both ways....then you have problems.

Needs to do something. I think he wants to keep everybody as fresh as possible however somethimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I've been thinkng the same thing about Teraance. He could open up some holes if he wanted to.

After reading some of these posts I was just wondering why some people say why can't we get any better competition that West Greene. In the past we haven't done to well against a coach that played at Jeff. Co. and the coach from West Greene (Joe Case) is an ex-patriot. They may be rebuilding but he will be ready for a return to Dumplin Valley. After seeing the results from our previous scrimmages don't you think some of the teams we scrimmaged thinks the same thing about us. I think maybe we should not be so critical of a team that may have only won 1 game last season because we have not been up to par in our scrimmages against Sullivan South or Knox Central. My parents were at the Knox Central scrimmage and overheard some members of the Maryville coaching staff say that Jeff. Co. was a disgrace to 5A football. I know we have some way to go before we can expect to return to powerhouse like we were but I do believe those Maryville coaches we close to correct. I just don't think some of these kids really know the tradition of Jeff. Co. football. People used to dread playing Jeff. Co. and now we are just considered another team. Maybe you all are seeing something that I am not but I do believe we are going to be in for a long season. I hope that I am wrong but I guess we will see when we make the trip to Greeneville on August 22.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
