its like that saying... its not what you say its how you say it... well in this case its how you put it... in the context in which you stated that he was just an assistant coach at a program that has one winning season it portrayed it with a negative connotation... therefore it was taking by me as a diss

Well I'm sorry you took it that way but in no way was it meant as a dis. Just stating facts.

Well time to chime in. You do not need to be a head coach to be respected or have contacts.

Sum can play and sum can coach but not all can play and coach. The given ability and effort to work harder than one thinks is capable of working proves to pay off for those in the end.

When you play the game in high school and then in College and beyond you get a feel for the game that not all can ever imagine. Coach Wilkerson has had that chance and opportunity and still is drawn by the urge to play still to this day. If not to go onto the higher levels of playing and educational opportunities.

Give a kid sumthan to believe in and his dreams and goals can become a reality in life not just a star to wish on. Coach Wilkerson has had a instrumental hand in getting these kids at Central ready to play today, tomorrow and on into their eventual College opportunities.

Alrighty then. I agree that unfortunately stats turn into a big part of recruiting, but the stats mean a lot more against a worthy advisary. If everyone wants to play that way, then it should become a rule that everyone scores as much as possible regardless of the team. Every year each team has many seniors, so you are saying that is always Ok to run the score up? I dont care if the touchdowns come off interceptions, runbacks or fumbles, points are points and when you humiliate another team it always comes back to haunt you. I hope that everyone on this thread remembers what they have written in a couple of years when your not so good and other teams are doing this to you. Just remember there will be seniors on those teams too, and they are just trying to pad their stats.

Enough of this running the score thing up. I played for a small school only like 200 kids and we played football games on friday nights just like everyone else but we may have 20-30 players. No where near the talent or speed of other teams just pure determination and grit to go out every friday and battle for every min that we could muster up the challenge of competition. Before the reinforments arrived.

This I mean we would play one team particuliar of 400 student and at half time it was up 50 plus to nothing, they would then start the third quarter with all jv team. before you think yeah that is right, that is throwing all fresh legs and lungs out to a handful of guys who have been striving to stay afloat and not drown in the sea of 0000000's. The jv group would take off like rockets with botls of energy and pound on you like their varsity just a lil smaller get the score up at least 2-3 more touchdowns---then no mercy rule. Wait it would get better, the fourth quarter they would roll out an all freshman team once again all fresh legs and lungs. Still not as big but full of ###### and vinegar, a chance to kill the wounded with a dull sword after they have been bleeding for over 36 min. They did their best to score and it really made us look deprived not being able to stop even the freshman. It did hurt and i did not kill myself and learned to grow and take a valuable lesson from it.

They old saying goes "IF YOU CANT BEAT THEM, THEN JOIN THEM". I did just that my Jr. year. Transfered away from all my friends to play for a team that got noticed and won and offered me a chance to go to college. This was a small Single A school as well, but played AA, AAA, even AAAA during the season, record may have not looked so great at times but when time to play same level of competition, those where the blowouts would come in beating up teams of same caliber due to playing tuffer competition. Which lead to two state titles and a runner up as well, all from a previous laughing stock of the region.

Wow am i waking up has then been rip van winkle syndrom. Appears like i have seen this happen before.

Play tougher teams get bigger faster stronger hum hope the same senerio is gonna pan out. So in all retrospect stop saying running up the score, just say getting better and going by us

IN a blaze of blue!!!

Its funny how people just want to put us down all the time. Thats fine. Nobody really cared when we were geting our brains beat in for years and years but now that we have put a couple of good years together its " you?  are running the score up". Stop crying. At least when we were getting beat we didn't cry all the time.

No, just 24-7-365

It was 48-0 at halftime its not like the coach left the starters in the whole game!! To run up the score! He scored one frigin time the second half. Get over it. And none of you Meigs fans mentioned the CHEAP SHOT you took on the holder during a PAT try. It would be different if you accidently dove into him TRYING to block the extra point. But NOOOO the kid comes on a dead sprint of the corner and just nails the holder while hes already on the ground!! THATS SOME CLASS!!!! Meigs take your butt whoppings like we took for YEARS!! We never cried about it. BTW, yall got a whole nother year to get ready for your next one!

That is unless the penal system steps in!!!!!!!

Just to throw in some facts from Coach Eller's first go around.

1991 Central 34 Meigs 6

1992 Meigs 15 Central 13

1993 Meigs 36 Central 21

1994 Meigs 36 Central 25

1995 Meigs 55 Central 16 (21-9 @ half and last 2 TD's scored by 3rd team QB) meigs state runnerup

1996 Central 27 Meigs 20

1997 Meigs 15 Central 7

NEVER has Meigs hung 60 something on Central so at least state facts when posting. This post was started by a fan from Central and joined in by others from around the state. NOBODY from Meigs has been on here crying about the score. It is Meigs' job to keep the score respectable and obviously we are going to have a long season. We can handle the adversity this season is going to bring and, as far as I know, not a single player is thinking of transferring. Public schools go through cycles with athletes and we will win or lose with our own. Central, learn to win with a little bit of class and by class I mean quit getting on here blowing your blue horns. Win a playoff game or two and then start chirping. Would also be a good idea to stick to coaching and not getting on here talking yourself up, could come back to bite you.

Hey AA,

You can give your facts but I can't give mine. Plus I didn't know that coaches couldn't get on here. I'm sure there are more on here than me. I just don't hide behind a screen name. But I was just stating facts not talking myself up. Just another fact for you. But if stating facts will come back and bite me I guess you better watch out yourself.

Thanks,

p.s. now my planning period is over see you guys tomorrow

ajw,elhosel,

Let me first say it says volumes that as coaches you get on this board and bragg about your team and its accomplishments as well as your own, then you have to defend your lack of discipline and class. Coach Wilkerson you tell me you take these kids to combines and check on their grades, big deal in case you kool aid drinkers think this is something special its not! Checking grades and taking kids to camp/combines is part of being a coach everyone does it! Do you want a trophy for doing your job? Speaking of overnight combines....I will not even go there on this board but just remember kids will and do talk about what goes on!

Also you had what 4-6 Sr's last year and they are all going to college thats great but it doesn't mean a thing unless thay actually get a degree, thats what signifies success. Also Coach Wilkerson you were one of the coaches at the baseball game laughing at your players except you were sitting on Polk's bleachers on the end. I am glad that you care so much about kids that you would let your players cuss and harass Hammonds everytime he came up to bat. Oh I forgot you were helping him. I suppose you were helping him as well when Coach D told Watson to hit him on the kickoff.

Kudos for the scholarships. I am sure the pharmacist appreciated you helping his son don't they live in Athens and how many boys from Etowah got one? How did you help, Nick Davis, Russell Hamn and Ricky Rollins when they had difficulties?

OK here I go, I have looked at all has had to say and here is my opinion.

I never thought that the Meigs faithful would feel the score had been run up. The one TD in the second half was a good indication. There is another fact that no one has mentioned, that I think all coaches will understand. Conditioning of players is a very crucial part of the game, along with Friday night actual experience against another opponent. It seems to me, without disrespecting any other Region 3 foe, that MC will be in a few more situations like this during the course of their season. I feel like sometimes when coaches start mixing their players during a game, we get focused on the starter that is in and not the other second or third teamers that are in. I HAVE BEEN GUILTY OF THIS! The bottom line is that it is hard to take kids out when your preparing for a season, no matter who the opponent is. Being a Charger, I too would have been upset if Coach D would have continued with all his first teamers and throwing the ball and scoring at will. I would like to clear up, that I do not have a problem with keeping the defense in, just my opinion. One touchdown in the second half, come on guys.

Talking about the situation at Polk, the baseball game, when the players from MC were cussing at the players. This is how you handle it -

1. Go to Coach D and personally tell him that some of his guys are heckling Polk players.

2. Go say something to the boys personally.

3. Ask the umpires, or have the coach ask the umpires to escort the boys out, I think there is a rule that unruly behavior will result in dismissal of a TSSAA event.

wow...i am guessing most of you are from polk or meigs county, because i don't think ajw is on here to brag just stating a few facts about their staff that you guys Call CLASSLESS....

someone said that is what a coach is suppose to do. most coaches around here don't do all those things. i know for a fact the coaches at Mcminn don't cause i have family over there and they have to call the coaches at central for help.

how could wilkerson help waylon poteet get a scholarship when waylon is older then him...HEY GETACLUE...not many high school players have that many conections. SOUNDS TO ME LIKE YOUR A LITTLE RACIST AND LOOKING FOR A WAY TO BRING WILKERSON DOWN...i mean all the guy did was stat a few facts...

i wonder how many of you would be attacking him for stating facts if he wasn't black...

as far the nick davis think...if im not mistaking they are half brothers...so im sure he tried to help him...but as i said earlier your probably a racist and don't know all the facts about him.

I offered to talk off board but I guess you are not interested. I sleep very well at night knowing what we do for our kids. Sorry you get so tore up about our business, I will continue to do my thing, be friends and respect the staff of other schools in our region. I will not be baited into a bashing contest with you or anyone else on this board.
