On the EHS defense they have an Ex Happy Valley coach. Why do they hire all the ex HV guys? They have not been good in 10 years and they cannot coach and he left HV high and dry like 3 days before practice started. EHS needs some older coaches that have coached against good teams. Right now I think Witten does a good job but he needs good coaches helping him not just his buddies.

Amen Brian. Over the years EHS has let some of the best defensive coaches out of their grasp (or ran them off in most cases). Those coaches that have coached the big games through the years and actually knew the game of football. The ones that come to mind quickly are Hastings, G. Jenkins, R. Childers...there may be others that don't come to mind right now. If the cyclones had that group of coaches coaching now with the team they have now they would win the big games and who knows how far they would be able to go.

Its all about hiring the good ole boys but we all know shawn cant just hire who he wants he has to have a little help from the gods at EHS so until that happens were just going to have to play the cards that dealt to us.Well time to go to illinois to kill a big buck good luck cyclones against south will need it.

Hastings was probably one of the best defense coaches EHS has ever had and i asked dave why he left and he said the coaches could not get along with him.

Think about what you said "Hastings is singular and coaches is plural" I would assume that Hastings could not get along with coaches at Betsy, Morristown East, Jeff County, and Volunteer. As well as the coaches stating they would not work with him if he was hired at Greeneville.

Not a knock on his coaching knowledge but the ability to get the job done. As Jim got older, his personality and effectiveness deminished. Very I oriented. I would love to have him as a consultant, but an on field coach at this stage...........

You should have seen the riot Jim caused in the Volunteer Locker Room in Greeneville, not pretty. Police involved.

From what I have seen from the stands, and from reading the papers, Hastings would fit in well In Betsy.

Loved the show yesterday Voice /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> . As of right now John Ellis is my favorite Viking. I sit with his father at the games and from your interview with him yesterday it sounds like he??™s a chip off the Big block. It was good to hear Coach Stubbs speak of the mental attitude of the team. That is real important going into this part of the season and that has been a problem for the Vikings in the past. Coach Stubbs sounds excited about the rest of the season and thats a good sign because that doesn??™t happen real often??¦at least he doesn??™t show it like he did in the interview. One??¦well??¦two things. We have worked hard on these boards and in the stands to get Wally out of the rut on the passing game??¦PLEASE don??™t mess that up by encouraging him to run the ball more. If he??™s smart enough he will realize that the new found easy of the running game is directly affected by the threat of the pass!!!!!!!!!!! You got to have both or at least the threat of both. I know that wasn??™t you guys intentions, but that??™s how it was sounding. The other thing is??¦I know the other guy (Ed I think) must have been well known and important at one time because of all the stories he tells about past Vikings. But his rambling is annoying at times??¦many times!! And it sounds like Coach Stubbs feels the same way from some of his??¦let??™s say lack of response. Is he the boss or something? If not??¦take control and ask these players the questions you know we all want to know /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" /> . I??™m just picking /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> ??¦some of his stories are interesting, but more often than not they aren??™t??¦IMO of course. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
