MBA-Ryan Classic Rivalry

Recommended Posts

Common misconception about this rivalry is that people only relate it to football.

These people have not been to a wrestling match or basketball game between both schools recently. The rivalry is alive and high no doubt. Football is not the only sport this rivalry takes part of. Remember that!

You're right, and I don't mean to diminish the accomplishments of athletes in those sports (from both schools), but the fact of the matter is that football is the big one. No MBA-Ryan event other than football has ever drawn 28,000 paying fans (the estimated attendance for the '71 MBA-Ryan game, played at Vanderbilt).

MBA- Ryan rivalry has definately died down in the past few years. MBA students get more hyped up for BA and especially now EHS. All that ive heard around the school is how the players hope to meet Ensworth again in the playoffs... not Ryan

Well when you consider that last year Ryan had the best team thay have had in a number of years, dominated by Seniors who liked to get on this board and run their mouths (their center particularly), then managed to put up 6 points on us in 8 quarters to our 70 or whatever it was. Well what do you expect. The Ryan fans are sure keeping a low profile this year.

The hatred and trolling is strong in this one.

Should be a great game, but i am still expecting MBA to win and be in control of the game throughout all four quarters. Ryan definitely will be pumped for this game, They need a win in a big game like this if they want to feel good about their season.

Is this game going to be played at MBA or at Greer?

At MBA thankfully, we had our turn at Greer last year.

Ive heard that Ryan is going to be able to play at their own school in the next few years... any word on this

Ryan now has legal permission to build a stadium and play on their campus.

The stadium will take time to fund and build.

I believe that, as soon as some landscaping issues (creating berms to decrease noise in the neighborhood) are taken care of, games can be played on the existing facilities on campus. Hopefully, next year.
