MUS's win over Olive Branch is one of only 2 losses for Olive Branch. Their only other loss was a 21-13 defeat to South Panola. South Panola is ranked higher (#45) than Moeller (#150) or Prattville (#54) by unapproved website.

Prediction: MUS wins

----------------------------------------------------

I don't know anything about BGA. I have never seen them play... This much I do know: BGA will have its hands full, Friday nite!.

I have seen MUS play twice (wins over Melrose & Olive Branch, MS). This is the only basis for my prediction. While I'm biased towards all Memphis areas teams, I know a good team when I see one in action. I know a bad team when I see one. I won't hesitate to point out both types, regardless.

I'll cut to the chase & repeat my comments about MUS, made after its 13-12 season-opening victory over Melrose:

1) MUS is a BONA FIDE Championship Contender! The manner in which they defeated Melrose was extremely impressive.

2) I'll be shocked should MUS not play for the D-II Championship!

Keep in mind, those were my thoughts after MUS' first game of the season! That's just how extremely impressive a team they were!

So far so good....

Go MUS! The entire Memphis area is rooting for you (& other area Privates & Publics) to ultimately bring that Gold Ball back home.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

As an interesting side note: way back in early September (when Olive Branch played MUS), many OB fans were bragging (on the Mississippi board, and the Commercial Appeal newspaper) about how badly OB would beat MUS. Mind you, this was just one week after OB had knocked off Nationally ranked, defending 2-time State Champs (plus a 2-year wining streak) Pahokee, Florida 48-47. They were riding high on cloud-nine. They went on & on, arrogantly dismissing MUS as "just another weak Memphis team...."

Very cocky!

Well, I cautioned the OB fans that they would be in for a major shock, if they thought they were gonna go into MUS and just waltz out of there with a victory, let alone a blowout victory. I ruffled a whole lot of their feathers when I predicted a MUS victory, even outlining the reasons why....

Well, MUS won 29-22.

Many Olive Branch fans were actually calling for their Coach's job, a new offense, benching certain players....all kinds of execuses and blame were offered up. They simply refused to acknowledge that ther were simply beaten by a better football team! Period.

BTW, here is something that I DO know about BGA: Win, lose or draw...I betcha' they will not dismiss MUS!

This article says Pahokee's only loss this season was to Byrnes from South Carolina. Sounds like MUS doesn't get any respect in Palm Beach either.

It was OB. According to Pahokee, it was a scrimmage game of sorts, not an official schedule game.

Yeah, you're right.

Olive Branch got ZERO respect or props from those pompous Florida jerks (sorry, I just couldn't help it), afterwards!

------------------------------------

It seems that in Florida, their "regular season" did not "officially" start until the FOLLOWING week. In other words, since Pahokee's loss to Olive Branch occured during (what we Tennesseans would call) Week Zero, then the Florida Officials essentially said....it's OK, boys--we can just pretend that your loss never happened. It was not really a loss! So, relax. Your 2-year win-streak is STILL intact, by our standards.

Geez--what a bunch of crap!

OK, my question was this: Why the heck did they put on uniforms, charge admission, then televise the "scrimmage" on ESPN(u?)...a darn High School scrimmage, no less?

Anyway, I'll let it go....I'm starting to get all worked up, all over again!

------------------------------------------------------

First rule of sports: Respect every opponent! Always.

I hear ya. Not to mention, why would OB go thru the expense of traveling to Fl for a scrimmage.
