I thought the I would have been something to consider last year with Cole at FB. Anybody see him plat that position at Farragut when D. Walker broke his ankle? Oh well past is past and time to look ahead. Who would be a possibility at FB if we did run the I some? All our current RBs are on the small side, and our current WR's are really good handed RB's. One thing I'm convinced of is Meadows will put the system in that gives us best chance for success.

Go Govs

Cole did line up behind the QB a few times in a goal line set.

Thanks GM.....I wish the best for Cole.

How about some "Fire" from the Ohio Players? Reminds me of Uncle Sams wayyyy too much. For the WB fans maybe some "Bump no more no big fat woman?.... That will cost me..

Heard you brought the house down at the banquet..

Wasn't me at the banquet. I'm not sure who the MC might have been.

For Dylan -- I promise you the kid eats enough to gain 25. Interesting thing about Dylan is that he has actually "slimmed down" since he entered high school. When he was a kid, he was pudgy.

Thomason might not be ready to start at rb, but wouldn't you agree that they need to figure out somehow to get him on the field and get the ball in his hands some? I believe he is as "dangerous" in the open field as anyone we have.

Elkins is nothing but a beast athletically and he always has been. Hassenstaub (with another year in the system) could be one of the best rb's in the area I believe. Irwin proved this year what he can do when he gets the football in his hands. Freshmen Cook, York, and Cunningham are extremely gifted. Three returning qb's--at least one of which I figure will end up at receiver. Definitely some offensive potential next year.

I believe our "disaster year" this year has completely dropped us off a lot of folk's radars ... and that's ok. We need to just work hard and wait and see what next season brings.

And oh yeah, MLREB, we're going to STOMP Maryville this year. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />

I remember those days for Dylan. He has turned into an outstanding young man.

I agree that Thomason is a great playmaker - with size and athletic ablity he is very "dangerous" as you say. I really hope that he is able to work on his punting during the offseason - not saying he was not good, but what a difference maker it is when you have a guy that can flip-flop the field postion with a great punt.

GOVMAN, Since WB football started in 1979, I was going to ask if they were planning anything for the 2009 season. Then I did the math and 1979 to 2009 is actually 31 seasons of football. I guess it is 30 full seasons of football or 30 seasons since the 1979 season... Either way; anything planned?

RR,

Had not really thought about it, but I'll definitely mention it to the AD. Would be nice to at least recognize it next season. Maybe invite back players from that first year's team to be our guests at a game and honor them.

Good conversation so far.... I think govman mentioned Irwin and Matt H.....??? already. I think those are the guys for the job.... Z.T. is a great athelete but I'm not sure I'd risk my punter at running back unless I had a good backup.

I used to get alot of heartburn when Casey Whitehead would have to make a tackle. His dad would almost lose his mind....... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I know I'm wishing my life away but I can hardly wait till spring practice..

Merry Christmas to all.....

Just an outsider looking in.... I have some relatives that attend WB and knew coach Meadows when he was at Sequoyah.... I seen the "I" mentioned earlier, does anyone know if that is what they are going to run next year? What kind of defense does WB run? Just interested and curious as to what the old coach is using these days.

Point well taken about Zach being the punter, but he also has the type of potential when he has the ball in his hands--if you make sure he's pointed in the right direction--to break off a 60-70 yd run at any time. I believe it's worth the risk ... to try to get him the ball "in space" at least 3 - 4 times a game.

I have not had a chance to talk to him much. I know at one time, I was hearing anything from Auburn, to Marshall, to MTSU. All of that hearsay of course.

Hey, the Govs have Maryville at home this Friday night. You, Stars, and my other Maryville buddies need to hit me with any song requests you may have to play during time outs and halftimes, etc. Last year I did some really good disco stuff for Stars.

I guess Rebel, Rebel by David Bowie or Rebel Yell by Billy Idol is out of the question.
