DCHS
How do you see the rest of the conference shaking out . Science Hill Crockett/THS/South (take your pick for 2,3,and 4) DB Volunteer Boone Central East
plowboy2
It has been quoted on this thread Science Hill is the team to beat this year. Maybe so. Don't count out Dobyns-Bennett or Crockett just yet as either team could take the 1st place title. Lots of talent on each. Does anybody know for sure if the District tournament will be held at Central? Thats correct.Dist. at Central May 1-7 - Regionals May 11-13 - Sectional May 15 - State May 19-22 DB was Crocketts whipping boy last year cause they were young. That is not the case this year.If DB pitching can stay healthy,Crockett will have a battle on its hands.THS will also be good.Don't forget South either with Archer. DBs first scrimmage Feb.26 Happy Valley @ home 4:30 First game March 10 @6:00 away @ D.Crockett.
Plowboy Deluxe
Science Hill Crockett/THS/South (take your pick for 2,3,and 4) DB Volunteer Boone Central East Write it down. DB 5th! I love it! The pitching in the Big 9 this year looks to be very good. There are several men consistantly above 85. The Hill : McKinney (GA. Tech)and Norris upper 80's +, Nat Pat and Sharpe are tuff as well THS: Krebbs (Carson Newman)has gas , Sleeper kid from NC, couple of strong underclass arms South: Archer (has offers) should be at his best ever this year Volunteer: Frazier (Milligan) Crockett: Massie (Milligan) and Freeman Boone: Connell (soph) lefty , stays healthly and he is high 80's The Tribe: Harvey (has offers) , Overcast, Doran , Brandon got the job done late last year and summer. Doran and Fantin have had a great winter Have not heard much from East or Central.
Oletimer60
Science Hill Crockett/THS/South (take your pick for 2,3,and 4) DB Volunteer Boone Central East Hmmmm, interesting order you got going here. DB in fifth - now that's funny I don't care who you are. Not much respect for the Indian nation. Volunteer ahead of Boone and Central?? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

They have guys that will not play that could start anywhere on other teams. South - will ride the arm of Archer. It will drop off after him, if his arm doesn't drop off first. THS or Boone - Krebbs is the man for THS. If he stays on, you can count those games. If he does like he can, they could be in trouble. Boone - have a lot of throwers. It will be interesting to see how they can come together. A lot of them only played sparingly last year. The younger Connell did not throw much last year due to basketball injury so it will be interesting to see how he does in high school. DB - They also do not have a pitcher that is dominant. They have several throwers. Crockett - Massey and Freeman are pitchers. Massey did not have a good summer and Freeman is sporadic. They can't win the big games. East - They had a great JV last year and have some good players coming. Central - Has the players just can't seem to play together. Volunteer - Got killed last summer in many games. It will be interesting to see how coaches play SH. Will they throw their aces and try to win or throw someone and try to get lucky and not get beat bad. Most teams have a dominant pitcher, but most don't have two that are consistent.

Not one single good baseball point made. Give us some help here. How bout a SH player that won't play and where he beats a starter out at THS or DB please. He has two third basemen who have both signed college scholarships. All the sophomores that have played ;r (oppers who will not play. One who played ss last year at state that will not play. SH is loaded with talent and does not have enough slots for them on field. Sharp will only pitch and yet is one of the better outfielders and hitters in conerence

You said "They have guys that will not play that could start anywhere on other teams" SH does have some depth and Sharpe is a good ball player no question. But really could he knock out Krebbs @ 3rd? Crawford @ SS? Freeman in the OF?
DCHS
What I do like about the league this year is most of the teams have a pitcher that could give them a shot anytime they take the hill. True SHHS will win the league, but due to the pitching depth of the league they are going to have do more than throw their hats out on the field to get a win. They will have some battles during the regular season and will not have to depend on going out of the area to face quality teams. This will help the whole league come post season time. I think that has hurt our teams in the past. It is usually the Big 2 and the Little 7, with not much of a challenge for the top two (in league play). This year is more balanced than in recent years, which will allow our reps in the sub-state to be more battle tested. Cant wait until it starts. Good luck to all teams and hopefully the State Championship comes back to the Big 9. It's been 11 years.

Are you telling me that Sharp could not beat out a player on Tn high. Crockett. Boone. DB or any other. That is what I said.
