Ryan entered the morning with a 198.5-194 lead over Baylor but things are getting interesting in the consis.

Bellet ( MBA) dec. Maurizi ( Ryan) 2-1. Don't think Ryan was thinking that would happen, so those are potential third place points lost.

Cate ( Bay) won by tech fall and Stavrum ( Bay) won by pin. So Baylor picks up some extra points there that could be big in the final tally.

Right now its a horse race.

If Baylor does not win, it's their own fault. Even with Hayes out @ 130# they should still win the tournament by 30+ points. It sounds like CBHS & Ryan is wrestling very well.

At 112, Maurizi is wrestling for 5th.

119---Simpson ( Ryan ) maj. dec. Bellet ( MBA ) 12-1-----bonus points and Simpson wrestling for 3rd

125 ---Wright ( Ryan) wrestling for 3rd

130--Stavrum ( Bay) wrestling for 3rd

140--Cate ( Bay) vs. Brewer ( Ryan) for 3rd---only head to head---big match

152---Agnew advances by 6-5 decision---wrestling for 3rd

189--Mix (Ryan) wins by tech fall-----more bonus points and wrestling for 3rd

285--yet to come---Obi (Ryan) vs Swest ( MBA) and Watson ( Bay) vs. McCallie. Likely winners should be Sweat and Watson.

For those interested who are out of Chattanooga, like cbq in his beachfront condo in Florida, , you can follow this yourself by going to the TSSAA.com website, click on the DII brackets, for each weight there is a PDF bracket and an HTML bracket. Click on the HTML bracket. Those are being updated by the TSSAA on an ongoing basis as matches are finished and results turned in. That is where I am getting these updates. You can do the same with the D-I brackets.

This is ruining work.

Losing at least 24 points before it starts is extremely difficult....also emotional for any team to lose a state champ just when state is going to start. You may be right and I hope so. Sounds like you think Baylor is 50-60 points better than anyone else with Cole and at least 30 better than the others?

Glad for Watson....good bonus points for Baylor. Wish I was there....but will be exciting following on the web.

285----Sweat ( MBA) beat Obi (Ryan) and Watson ( Bay) pinned McCallie. Bonus points for Baylor.

Consi medal brackets (3/4 and 5/6) in D-II should now be set and ready to start after lunch.

Baylor's Cate beat Father Ryan's Brewer for 3rd in 140's. Baylor's Stravram over McCallie's Clements in 135's for 3rd.

Bigred-----big win by Cate over Brewer---3 points ( 1 +2, I think) for Baylor, no points for Ryan--maybe a surprise here

103----Eady wins 5th for Baylor--- 2 points

112---Maurizi takes 5th for Ryan--2 points

119-- Ray beats Simpson for 3rd---no points for Ryan

125-- Anthony beats Wright for 3rd--no points Ryan

135--Stavrum takes 3rd---3 points to Baylor

152---Alexander beats Agnew (Ryan)--no points for Ryan

189--Mix takes 3rd for Ryan--3 points Ryan

285---Sweat beats Watson----no Baylor points ------ maybe a surprise and cancels out points by Cate over Brewer

Baylor gets 2 thirds ( 6 points), Ryan one ( 3 points ) , and each get a 5th ( 2 points)--Baylor 8, Ryan 5.

They have not posted current team scores, but it must be close going into the championship finals.

My math may be wrong, but I have Baylor picking up 9 1/2 points in the semis ( 4 for advancement of 4 to finals and 5 1/2 bonus on two pins and a tech fall) and Ryan 7 1/2 ( 5 for advancement of 5 to finals and 2 1/2 on a md and a tech fall). That would make it Baylor at 194.5 + 9.5 =8=212 and Ryan 198 + 7.5 + 5 = 210.5 going into the finals. If Ryan wrestles well and gets some help from its friends at CBHS, McCallie and MBA ( 112 or 119, 125 , and at 189), it could a barnburner like last year and come down to the final two head to head matches at 171 and 215. If Baylor gets on a roll in the lower weights and Ryan misses out at 103 and 130, it might be over before then. Should be exciting.
