I think the presence of a school like Grace Academy playing/competing against small rural towns/schools brings almost everyone together hoping Grace Academy loses.

As I have stated before, Grace has no business playing in Single A basketball. Sure their enrollment allows them to play when using the TSAA multiplier, but let's be realistic- they are a private school that selects their student body. They are sponsored by a mega church that rakes in millions to tens of millions of dollars. Just watch the broadcast every Sunday morning. This school and church's fundraising and pleas for donations is more in line with how division one colleges raise money for academics and athletics than in line with poor strapped public rural schools they are competing against.

Is it fair for a private school with this type of support who hand picks the type of student they want out of the Knoxvilel Metro area ( 700,000 plus people ) to compete against the Midways, Sunbrights, Coalfields, Oneidas, Oliver Springs, Rockwood, Greenback.

The TSAA dropped the ball on this. I am ok with Private schools playing AA and AAA basketball, but it's morally wrong for schools like Grace to be playing against single A teams- especially one bankrolled by a mega church located in a metro area of 700,000 competing against schools in towns of mostly 2,000 people or less and in some cases 500 people or less ( greenback, sunbright, oakdale, coalfield, midway).

i played for cosby an they was in our district my whole high school career. its really not a big deal them playing in that district. yea they are private but i believe it is better having them in there some of the best games i ever played in was aginst grace an c.a.k. tough luck get better they have two really good players who have worked hard an deserve the shot they are getting. its not like they are world beaters an jus run away with single A. they didnt even win their district. give me a break about them not suposed to be there

Agree.

Either play private classification ( like Webb) or play in AA against bigger county or city public schools where the field will be evened.

Go and Whine to the TSSAA...we just play where they tell us to play....geeessssshhhh....it's not our choice.....I think the field was pretty even last night against OZ...they gave us a run for our money, but just couldn't hang in the end...

Well everyone loved Grace being in there district when everyone was beating Grace by 40 but now that these kids have improved and are winning now no one wants Grace around. Why cant you just say good job the better team won last night.

    • Groves got the ball over 20+ times. His son arguably played the best for East in that game. 3rd and long multiple times and he came up big to continue a couple drives. Please shut up for the 3rd year in a row
    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
