Who will match up with Cookville and Blackman Saturday?

Interesting you asked. Cookeville plays Cumberland high school at Cookeville and if the fans have ever thought about turning out for a game, This will be the one. The 7AAA Special is on a roll now and it will arrive in Cookeville and then go to Walker Valley where Blackman plays Walker Valley So the games are on the ridge and in the Valley. How good it would feel to send two schools from there to the state. 7AAA spent all season warming these two schools up and getting them ready for this last battle and they hope the effort was good enough to get you ready to meet these two Region 3 schools. From RIVERDALE, SIEGEL, LEBANON, WHITE COUNTY, OAKLAND and WARREN COUNTY "Don't let the District down, we worked too hard to help you get there". Win the substate on the ridge, you deserve it. And there's only one bus going up there and make dog gone sure you are ready when you get off of it. Go Cookeville and Blackman and bring the Substate championships to the State next week.

White County rooting for Cookeville??? Right, and the Red Sox will be rooting for the Yankees this year. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Cookeville should win. How did Cumberland Co. make it this far? Got hot at the right time I guess.

Good luck Blackman.

Man, are you bitter! Ya'll still mad about not getting the Interstate? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

I didn't grow up in this rivalry(been here 30 years), but from some of the stories I hear, from both sides, it's like the Hatfields and McCoys. There is some deep rooted hatred between these two counties and I think it goes much deeper than athletics.

Sorry, thought I posted this last night. I must have fat fingered it.

Congrats to Cookeville. A well played game by a very good team. I was definitely proud of my Lady Blaze as well. They were in it until the very end. Hopefully, we can count on some of the "Hibdon's Heros" t-shirt clad bunch to make it in the general direction of Cleveland on Saturday. Despite all the comments on other boards, I think you guys are great and really support your school. What we need is two victories for these two very competitive teams on Saturday. GO LADY BLAZE, GO LADY CAV'S. Go hard, be safe and good luck.

I wouldn't call it a hatred. Just a strong dislike. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

You strongly dislike Cookeville but you work in their city and utilize their resources. That is hard to figure out why such a hatred? I really don't think there is any love lost..............I gather the feeling is mutual!!!

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
