Blackman football

Bubba, you are so right. You have to be optimistic no matter how bad things look. I took a lot of ribbing over the years when we had some down time. I can take it though, it just makes you stronger. Everyone knows Shad loves to use the "We don't get respect " approach anyway.

Did you bail on Smyrna too or are you still purple?

Come talk to me when you have 3 gold balls...... /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

i am still purple. i will always be purple and gold at heart. i think bail is a harsh word to use for some of the coaches that left. Coach schrim was from alabama and got a great job at bob jones high school, a very good 6a school, that did just scrimmage blackman (thats how that scrimmage was set up). Coach Wyant, Coach Pip and Coach Carson all got the oppurtunity for job advancement. bail is a very harsh word for these guys that worked extremely hard while they were at smyrna.

i haven't posted as often this year because my job moved me out of state. this was the first season in 15 years i did not get to see a smyrna football game.

Actually I was referring to the camera guy that everyone was jumping on in the above posts.

We all know that Carson got a head job and deserved it. Pip took a good opportunity as well. You will never hear me down Pip. He is always going to be Oakland in my eyes. As for Wyant, I think most folk expected him to leave after not getting head coach at Smyrna. I said more than once you don't get head in 5a without coordinator experience. We won't go there with Shad.......

Glad to see you are remaining true purple, bubba.

We are working on that 4......

  • 1 month later...

did I see correctly on an Eagleville post that Robbins is going to help Carson.............the "ugly fish" will miss him /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

This will really tell the tale in my opinion . Most of us in region 4 feel like the addition of Robbins to Smyrna was what turned the Smyrna program to the next level. Look how he developed Sonny Gray. Then he went to MTCS and they did well too. I am anxious to see what Shad can do without him. Congrats to Carson at Eagleville for pulling him away. I am still wondering what went down though. There has to be some juice to this story. Just know that coaches in region 4 are breathing a collective sigh of relief.

    • No reasonable lawyer would take up this case. I am not a lawyer, but I know school law in and out.  Similar situations just like this play out thousands of times each year across the country, even at the college level (i.e. Ole Miss)  The Plaintiff's never win...ever.  If I am wrong, please provide a legal precedent for me. I will be waiting.  https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39431892/judge-drops-ole-miss-player-lawsuit-lane-kiffin
    • Yes Justin Cruse was named head coach
    • It used to be, I think it still is, a change of 20% +/- gives reason to reclassify. Schools can choose to play up classifications but not down. Here is the mid cycle reclassification info on TSSAA.org When Memphis East changed from a regular public school to an "all-optional" school in 2017 the would've dropped to A but chose to stay in AAA in basketball (baseball, and softball) Penny was still coaching there and with the players they had they would've beaten A teams by 40 and slept walked to the championship. Other Memphis schools stayed in their classifications (mostly in basketball) until the next reclassification cycle. Of course this is the same time that a 4th class was added basketball.
