Science Hill (31-4) vs. Walker Valley (33-1)

I was researching Walker Valley and they do have some height. In the past, SH has always had trouble with a height factored team, however, Josh Odem is playing his best ball right now. I did hear from a friend of mine that lives there that he got injured and may not be 100% come Thursday. How do you get injured going into the state!?? Coach has gotta protect that investment. I'm from the Knoxville area and I don't think anyone wants anything to do with Bearden right now, but SH actually has the weaker bracket. /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ph34r:" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />

 

 

Yeah they got a couple big guys, but they are not a big team at all. But they play big. When they played in that pre-season Hall of Fame game they couldn't guard all the shooters that WV has.... if you give Ware ANY room he's gonna fire it up. They are 82% from the free throw line so you can't foul em! AND man that's bad if that kid is really hurt. Bless his heart, I hope that's just somethin that got slung out there. and I can't sit here and lie...I don't have a clue about Bearden but hey it all comes down to who comes to play..... /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

I saw SHHS plays twice this year. Once at Knox Central in the Wazoo tournament and I thought they looked pretty shaky but that was at Thanksgiving. Then I saw them ramp up the intensity against Leslie McDonald and Briarcrest in the Arby's Classic and I said you better watch out these boys might just make it to Murfreesboro! Here they are SHHS is good enough to sneak up on some folks! Better not over-look them Toppers!

well play day or hall of fame game it doesn't really matter what they called it the 2 teams laced up and SH got beat! It was still football season for them too... /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I watched Walker Valley play several times this year and I think they are a very good team, but a little overrated. First of all, I was at the two WV-RB games when WV won at the buzzer each games, first at Red Bank (WV 80, RB 79) and then in overtime in the region 3AAA championship (WV 75, RB 74). That shows that they are very good under pressure, but think about it- if they had been a little off, they would be 31-3 and RB would be 22-12 and probably have a top 25 rank by now.

 

Another thing to point out is that Walker Valley beat Chattanooga Central (typically below average) in the first region game at WV and won by 5. Red Bank beat Central by 10 at Red Bank, then lost to them by 6 at Central (RB played horrible), and then, in district 6-AAA consolation, Central got ice-cold and Red Bank blazed, and Red Bank won by 42 (100-58). Then, next week, Central travels to Walker Valley and puts up a fight (I guess, I wasn't at the game), losing by just 5.

 

Point being, Walker Valley always plays hard and they are an amazing shooting team, but it seems as if they like to let pressure build up somewhat. I don't know anything about Science Hill, but from these posts, it seems as if Walker Valley will be in deep trouble if they let the pressure build up against such a tall, swift, experienced and pressure-forming team.

It's because none of us know what may happen. All I know is that we should all go over to the 'boro and support the team and school as loud as possible. It is an exciting time and every game should be a great game.
