I guess the Clarksville boys will be moving up in weight... who else will be in the 112 class? Last season's returner from region 9 at this weight class will be Chad Isbell (clarksville), Martin Leamon (northwest), Nick Cantrell (harpeth), Brian Conn (clarksville academy), and Ryan "the Cabin" Cavin (rossview)... I am "assuming" these boys will be going 119 or higher this season...

Defending 215 lb Region 9 Champion Tim Waters tore his ACL, MCL, and his PCL last night during Creek Woods football game against Sycamore. He also had a severe dislocated kneecap. The injury is so bad that the doctors have decided to postpone surgery for a month for the swelling to go down, so he will not be returning this year. Tim is a very classy kid and he wanted me to tell all the 215 lbers that he wrestled last year good luck and he hopes that whoever the top 3 that come out of Region 7 this year will represent our region well.

That is a big blow to the Creekwood wrestling team. It would be a big blow to any team to lose a kid like that. I wish Tim the best in his recovery.

That was a definite blow to our team especially after losing Illig at 160 about a week and a half ago. My other senior tore his ankle up 2 years ago and has dealt with serious pain the last 2 years. This summer the doctor wanted to operate but he's going to try to wrestle through it. Who will replace Tim? Well, I have a decient sized sophomore coming from the football team. Problem- no experience and no aggressiveness- too nice. Also to answer your question on who my 112 will be, he is new also. He's pretty tough but has no experience. As a matter of fact, after losing Tim and Illig I only have 2 seniors (only 1 with any experience), 2 juniors, 9 sophomores, and 7 freshmen. This is probably going to be more of a rebuilding year for us after losing so much so soon.

Sorry to hear that! Is Wallack not going to be your 112 this year? Lookin foward to your pre-season tourney. Y'all did a great job last year! I also heard that y'all are having a regular season tourney this year. Is this true or just a rumor? Good luck to you this year. Rebuilding year also stinks!! :thumb:

We are still having the preseason tournament this year as well as a January 16th tournament. The preseason tournament has 23 teams and we have some very tough teams coming to the regular season tournament as well. As far as Wallick, I'm encouraging him to go to 119 but he may even be 125 this year. He's hit a small growth spurt and he's gained a lot of muscle. I think at 119 he will be under the 7% body fat but barely. Thanks Coach Brown for the well wishes and I'll make sure to tell Tim.

Kenwood High School... Until 2 years ago they were one of the better programs in the former region 9, now region 7.. They were second in regions every year. They won districts in 2004. The downfall came when Slight left and the next two coaches left after a year. In 2008 they were 4th in regions, and probably last in 2009. The coaching position has been filled with a very capable coach, and the possibilty that he will coach there for more than one year is 100% guaranteed. There are quite a few talented wrestlers returning as well. Darion Pittman 135, Dustin Shaw 119, Miguel Robles 171, Maurice (their 145 last season), and Joseph Degon 140. It seems things are going well so far for the Knights. I believe that Kenwood will go under the radar becuase of their past two seasons. However, I believe they may pull one major upset that will get everyone talking and realizing that Kenwood is going to take region 7 by suprise in the next coming season, or maybe even this year if the coaches can find a way to achieve success again just like Kenwood has done in the past. They are my pick for the region 7 darkhorse! Does anyone else think they will have a breakout season? Maybe and upset or two? Keep in mind that this program is being rebuilt, and I've heard things look promising. So what do you think?

Sorry just thought we should try and keep Region 7 talk on the same page so that we can see how the progress goes... that and I am a tad anal :excl:

Well are far as a darkhorse goes Kenwood will make a few splashes but are missing to many weight class to be extremely effective, not saying they can not win some matches only that to be consistent they need to fill those open weight classes.

I really have believe there are 2 darkhorses this season... Springfield and Rossview

Springfield because they only lost one kid...Michael Webber to graduation and he wasnt even a varsity guy. If they return everyone they will be extremely strong.

Rossview because they only lost one starter this past season... Ethan Smith. The reason I am mentioning rossview is because out all the teams in the region almost their entire team has been working very hard during the off season. In an earlier post

I think Rossview will surprise some people coming off a rebuilding year. Pretty much the entire team put a lot of time in during the off season. If you're expecting the same Rossview team from last year and taking for granted the kids ages, I think you are making a big mistake......they worked hard over the summer.

But again this doesnt mean Kenwood will not pull off some good wins.

Rossview kids have definatley put in the work. Have full team and will be tough.

Beech had a few kids work the freestyle season and preseason. Beech should be improved this season. Only lost one senior last year, kleinert rest are returning. So Beech was really young last season but they are working hard. Expect them to make a little noise over the next few seasons

    • We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.
    • I like the Pirates chances. I’ll be there as soon as work allows.
    • Stars, I heard we were searching far and wide for some math teachers. Any chance their kids bench press or 40 times are getting checked? LOL I’ve heard good things from 825.
    • I think it was expected. “Bad” luck I guess to get a couple difference maker QBs in the same class. I thought the decision was made a little early myself, but they were struggling offensively last year.  I assume the running quarterback alco had last year would be a senior this fall, and the transfer would start the following two years in addition to getting a ton of playing time this year. Maybe he waits two yrs, but I doubt it. The kid is good. So is the one who stayed.
    • I'm from Cloudland and we've never played a sectional game.  We need to win tomorrow night to avoid that bus ride.  Us and north greene can play with you guys so I'm expecting good games whoever the matchup is.
