Are Mavs big up-front or really quick? Is your offense more pass or run? Can your kicker kick the

football in the endzone on kickoff?

I hope the rain holds off. GO CANES! :thumb:

I would say there's a pretty good balance of size and quickness/speed. The offense is definitely more pass oriented, although this is the first year and, of course, the first game for Coach G. So he might have some surprises up his sleeve. It is a spread though, so I expect a lot of passes. The kicker is new, but I doubt he can get it to the endzone, which is rare for high schoolers. But if I'm kicking, it's going where Howell ain't. In fact, I'd kick it high and short to one side. I hope the coaches worked on that this week. :popcorneater:

Here's to an injury free game for both teams but a win for the Mavs!

We need to work on some things but a win is a win and AC had a great QB/WR combo. East did a good job taking away the run but our pass D looked ragged. This is the polar opposite of last week. Matt Helton played a second good game at MLB and found out that he had hands on the ends of his arms with a nice pick. Dee Dee Johnson ran HARD all night and Tee was Tee. D.Clark played very well as did Ricker and Blanton. No serios injuries and looking forward to next week.

MavMaximus, I understand what you are saying. But, they tried running it in from the 5 in the first half and were unsuccessful on 3 straight attempts. I agree that they need to be able to run the football but lets not get on here and be negative after a week one loss. There are many areas that the kids need to improve on. I liked how they fought back after being down by 20. I thought it was great to watch an exciting football game again at AC. We need to work on the run game I suppose; but it was encouraging to see a 1st time starter complete 19 passes for aroun 300 yards and 5, yes 5 TD's. Hats off to Chad Blakley. He was all over the field on both sides of the ball. We need to find some more guys that are willing to give their all and fight till the horn blows. Next week will be an emotional one for the coaching staff. Go Mavs!!!

I didn't really intend to be negative, but I understand how you could have taken my question that way. I was generally pleased with the way AC played, especially with Williams' composure, the never say die attitude when the score was lopsided, and Blakley indeed was everywhere. There are a lot of good things to build on, although I agree with you that the Mavs need to develop a running game. I suspect that will come as the season progresses.

    • 20 but had 5-6 not dressed every game. It went down towards the end due to injuries and obviously only 15 got to dress for the state tournament. Then, they only lost 2 from this year and gain 8 from the middle school for next year
    • As somebody mentioned before, this is going to result in a massive lawsuit, can you imagine professional "educators" actually having the conversation about getting "the bad kids" out of the high school?  And the head coach asking directly to change grades, gets turned down, comes back again and gets it approved?  This is unbelievable.  In addition to the lawsuit, the state Department of Education is going to come down extremely hard on this.  WYSH is on the war path.  There could be dozens more lose their jobs by the time this is over.  And yeah the real shame is the kids being affected that literally had nothing to do with this and actually worked hard to earn their grades.
    • I've heard Powell from someone who talked to him. I saw the kid two days ago and I should of pulled over and talked with him and wished him well where ever he goes. It will be a ale of a loss for us because I don't believe we have anyone in the stable good as him from what I seen in the spring.
    • I would have to think that the firing of the 2 teachers is just the beginning of future moves.  If not, it is woefully short.  If the AC school board thinks that the damage is just limited to Clinton, they are sadly mistaken.  Any outsider would view the whole school system as suspect, and rightly so.
    • Yeah. AC brass walked in to the building at Clinton and suggested that the principal start changing grades.  Honesty, the notion that anybody at AC was involved is just idiocy.  The ones who are hurt most are the kids who weren't involved in the cheating, but still are being penalized by college admission decisions and scholarship consideration simply because they went to a school that was involved in such a scandal.
