tdntn, so glad to see you back on here. I was thinking about you the other day as a matter of fact. You have been missed! Hope you and your brother are doing well. Don't be a stranger on here!

I have already done my rant about this fellow hanging around at Oakland and being allowed to use our indoor facility to bring in players from other schools. That is just asking for trouble. We had a whole little thread about this VERY issue. I said exactly what you just said that this guy is in things for himself. He wants his name in the headlights, and is all about chest-thumping and bragging on himself. I applaud Coach A for kicking him to the curb. Such a shame that Riverdale is going to get dragged through the mud. I am scared that Oakland will be added to the mix b/c of the association with this guy. He is trouble. If he really loved the kids like he claims, he wouldn't want them hurt this way.

Glad to be back, although it might be just briefly. I have to admit that I'm VERY out of touch with high school football these days. Its different when you don't have friends playing any more, I could look at all 4 Murfreesboro schools rosters now and know about 4 people total.

However, I have missed this board and all of its posters. Now a days, you can find me tearing up the forums of titanscentral.net, the Titans are like my passion in life LOL. And alot more media coverage and alot easier to keep tabs on...less than 48 hours til Pittsburgh gets the business...AND their towels stomped on again hopefully

Oakland vs. Riverdale game MIGHT be the only game I make it to this year. I saw a little of both teams on TV in consecutive weeks, but thats it so far, sad they both took L's. However, I was very proud to see a fellow Riverdale alum David Spurlock tearing it up on national TV last night, with spears on his helmet still! I like his chances at playing on Sundays! (Hopefully when I buy his jersey it will be a TITANS jersey)

The youngest Denney boy WILL be a Patriot next year, 5 years ago I never thought I would say that but I am completely comfortable saying it now! Hopefully he'll atleast give freshman football a try...I told him he can get a ring and some hardware :P

Go Oakland, Go Riverdale. In that order (LOL just playin haven't forget where I came from)

What is odd is that he has already written a letter to the editor about this . That was about the time the thread started on here about him. So seems to me that if there was any credence to this, it would have been investigated then. I thought an individual couldn't file any claims with the TSSAA, only a school? Maybe I am wrong about that though? Sounds like if TSSAA has had his claims for 2 weeks now as it said on Channel 4 and was still investigating. So WHY did he go on TV? No mention of it on DNJ site either. If this doesn't seal the deal to rid themselves of him at Oakland....... :thumb:

Just wonder if someone talked him into doing this for their own agenda?

I dont believe this for a second. This just reeks of ego. There may not be a guy who does things more buy the book than Coach A, . It just so happens that these supposed allegiations coincide with the end of DeVinner's association with Riverdale, or however that you want to put it. I have not exactly kept up with who Mr. DeVinner associates himself with, but it is obvious that any program associating themselves with this man will become a target in this inquiry as well.

I would like to see the charges, in detail, brought against Riverdale. DeVinner is a pretty gullible fella if it took him 3 years to put together kids he was talking to and their skill level as it pertains to the football field, and obviously, he isnt very good at his job, given Riverdale's slow decline from 2006 to 2008.

I obviously do not go to bat for Riverdale too often, but unless these allegations are proved to be true, Ill never belief that Coach A and his staff willingly made a deliberate attempt to recruit kids for the sole purpose of the success for their program.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
