At the NCS vs McEwen game lastnight the students from NCS got a little to FRATTY if you know what i mean :) but it was a great game. I think that NCS was the better team the whole game till the last couple of minutes then the student section got in a little bit of trouble and was not nearly as loud as they had been the rest of the game and i think that the players might have been effected by that. I give alot of credit to McEwen for the great comback! Cant wait till the district tourny should be some really great match ups :):popcorneater:

Also at the game last night. NCS played wery well the first half. However, don't know that I would say NCS was better the whole game except for the last couple of minutes? NCS up by 11 at the half & McEwen outscores them 23-12 in 3rd. NCS had absolutely no answer for McEwen's big kid! Paper had him with 27 and 23 of those in the 2nd half!

I don't think the NCS players were affected by the crowd as much as they were by McEwen's defense. Mcewen played unbelieveable defense in the second half.

That being said I was really impressed with NCS' defense and as always if they hit their 3's they're tough. NCS hit several 3's in the 1st half but couldn't get it to fall in the 2nd. 2nd half McEwen D stepped up and got in their face. Thought that the referees let it get a little wild on both sides.

NCS student section did get in trouble in fact 3 or 4 got tossed for some not so kind language towards the McEwen players. Not so nice for a "Christian School".

10A District Tourney should be a good one though it appears everybody playing for second. Even though Houston County proved anything can happen last year! :)

Regarding the NCS student section I'd say there are more than their share of morons there and naturally just a few bad apples can make the entire student and institution embarrassed. Not to mention their bleachers are in no way compliant with the TSSAA requirement of a minimum of 3 Ft from the court. To add people sitting on the 1st row and you have a serious accident waiting to happen. I'd think there has been some without question, just haven't heard about them. Station Camp students behaved the same way when I went there, but as someone stated previously...NCS is a "christian school". They desperately need to have a nice long talk with the kids sitting there. I'm surprised they had some tossed since it seems no one pays much attention to them and it's loud. Perhaps they've had many complaints and were watching. Does anyone know if the refs tossed them or reps from the school? I'd guess it was the refs since the school reps seems to be conveniently AWOL during the games. Everywhere else is fairly decent with the possible exception of WHH with some kids trying to stand right on the court even though they have plenty of room. Seemed to be pretty mouthy too with some insults, etc. but not quite as bad as NCS. No place for personal attacks, childish behavior, and especially racial stuff around our schools.

As far as Cooksey and HC, I've seen only one game in that Skelton only scored 9 pts and thought he missed a PG creating and opening up passing lanes for easy shots in close. Not sure Cooksey makes a huge difference either way, and I see that Skelton got his points last night anyway. Think they're still pretty decent without him. Looks like a very nice win by McEwen last night beating NCS there. ER had an easy win vs MH with Woodard only going for 14 with what is usually 25-30 shots. Can't imagine that number was any different last night. Think they actually play better as a team when he's not on the court. They beat WHH there with him on the bench the entire 1st half so that's fairly evident. ER goes to McEwen Fri night so MC should be an easy favorite I'd say to pull ahead of them in the district. WHH still has several tough games coming up so anything is possible for 2nd, besides JB or MH obviously.

It wasn't so much of him opening up passing lanes, it was that he could break any press and get the ball down the floor. HC has had trouble with any kind of full court press and traps ever since Cooksey quit. It's hard to pull a shooting guard like Featherstone and turn him into a point guard in a couple of weeks. He does a good job at it, but he's not Cooksey.Plus it limits his shooting. Skelton can make his own plays, but he's not the only post player they have. Monroe put up 24 against NC, even thought they got beat. Roper put up big points against ER in their gym.

As for Woodard, when they came to HC, he put up alot of points, but he also has turned into a kid that passes the ball. He had many many assists, nice no look passing, he isn't as selfish a player as he used to be.

One quick question

Just because NCS is a Christian school does that make them better than everyone else?

Do you mean does that make them adhere to a higher standard? It's a matter of expectations I suppose, and yes, in my opinion they should act as if they resemble Christians in some form or fashion. But hurling insults and the other things I've seen and heard...and had players comment on isn't becoming of any institution, Christian or not. Don't see anything close and any other school but possibly WHH as I mentioned. I hardly hear or notice the student sections at all the other schools. Sure there's plenty of good people there, that's why you hate to see a handful of immature brats make them all look bad. If a Metro cop is escorting fans out, then it must have been pretty bad to go to that extent. Never have seen that anywhere before.

Well first of all i was at the game sitting in the same student section as the kids who got kicked out and they didnt get kicked out for hurling insults they got kicked out for going on to the floor multiple times after NCS made a shot or forced a turnover but it wasnt like they was running out to the free throw line and back they went maybe 1ft onto the floor which is about two feet away from the bleechers your right the bleechers might be alittle to close to the floor but our players have to play with it too so befor you start bashing NCS and their AMAZING student section that is louder than anyone else in the district know why they got kicked out befor you start talking!!

If that's what you consider AMAZING, well then you have quite the imagination. And I didn't say anything about why they got thrown out. Just commenting on what I've seen and heard at other games. It's common knowledge around the district about the unruly kids at NCS, have heard it for years. And I seriously doubt a Metro cop would get involved if some kid just ventured a bit out on the floor. Must be more to the story that one would have to get from someone that wasn't a homer.

please name some things you have seen at NCS and i have heard some bad things from McEwen too like 5 years ago we had a player on our team who was a mixed kid and your little student section made a poster that said MUT on it so if you can think of one thing you have seen at NCS worse than that please let me know

I attribute NCS being loud to their gym really more than the students section itself. That gym is at least 25% smaller than any other except WHH and they're moving next year. Seating can be a real pain so arriving much earlier than usual is required. As far as the bleachers, common sense says the NCS has to deal with it also, but that doesn't mean it conforms to state standards and is a smart thing to do. Why not extend the bleachers one row less? Sure it would look odd, but wouldn't be such a hazard. Hard to do with seating problems overall, but when the 1st row has their feet on the sideline it's silly. Time to move on.

First thing, I'm not a MC guy and it that's true it's absurd to say the least. I will say that I'm not as familiar with MC only being there once but don't recall anything out of the ordinary. Maybe I missed something. I attribute NCS being loud to their gym really more than the students section itself. Hard to do with seating problems overall, but when the 1st row has their feet on the sideline it's ridiculous. I don't feel it's necessary to repeat things my son and others have heard at NCS, what goes on there is widely known. It's the only gym I've seen students direct personal comments at players during warmup on a persistent basis. Time to move on.

Our gym obviously meets state requirements or we wouldnt be able to play in it so quit complaining. Talking trash is part of the game every student section does it. We can move on now if you would like but your wrong and im right.
