Powell at Clinton

The Panther defense will keep Weston Hazelhurst in check, but I just don't see them stopping Darian Stone's passing attack. Clinton wins, 35-14.

 

 

I hope you're right about Hazelhurst, but I'm afraid he will inflict more damage than you think. Overall, I believe he is one of the best RB's that the Panther defense will face this year. Trying to get pressure on a QB can create running lanes and Weston is a big, strong, tough kid to pull down. Maybe he will get fumblitis like Cozart did in the jamboree.

The Panther run defense has actually been a bright spot for this team all season, especially against Fulton and Oak Ridge. Hazelhurst is a great back, no question about that, but Clinton is very aware of our issues in the secondary. I expect a steady dose of Darian Stone passing the football. Hazelhurst will get his carries, but I would bet that Shattuck wants to get ahead early with the vertical passing game.

I don't think there is any question about that. Hazelhurst is the best running back, and most likely the best football player period that Powell will play this year, in my opinion.

Nothing against those guys but OR and Fulton RB has nothing on Hazelhurst...That kid is a Strong unforgiving back and he punishes people every time they try to tackle him.... But I do see your point of Clinton letting Stone Loose. I really think that they will start out with Hazelhurst running a little bit and try to get Powell to put 8 in the box...and when powell does that Clinton may go with the passing game. I still believe Powell is a dangerous team and a team that Clinton shouldnt take lightly

Except for the DB game where Clinton won by 8 points, they have beaten everyone else to this point by double digits. In about 3 more of those games, Clinton's second and third strings played most of the second half.

I will be the first one to say that Clinton hasnt beaten anyone with a winning record to this point, but that doesnt mean that Clinton isnt a good football team. I still dont think that Clinton has played the best that they can to this point either. I think that the better the competition gets, the better Clinton will play!

Well the Weather is hit and miss on Rain...How does Powell play in the rain? Ive been impressed with Clinton playing in the rain so far...Has anyone heard how the players are doing that were sick for the Central game?

Clinton has really emerged as an offensive juggernaut this year, they have the number 3 QB in the area who is also the only guy in the top 15 or so without a pick so far and the number 2 running back in the area. clinton is the only team with a top 10 QB and Running back, talk about a balanced offense. People keep saying that theyve really benefitted from a weak schedule but theyve handled it like a dominant team should, by winning big almost every week except for the two early games one of which was against a DB team thats lookin better each week and knocked off one of the top teams in the state last week (sullivan south). The only thing thats really holding us back so far is our penalties that seem to keep getting worse instead of better. I feel like theyre finally getting into the real meat of the sschedule and will really still only have one real test (OR) until a few rounds deep in the playoffs. AC was really exposed last week by them and their D is for real, still i dont think they can keep up with the talented clinton O and i feel like we'll finish the season 10-0 and make a great playoff run, back to this game though, originally i think i predicted somewhere around 35-14 but the more i read the more i think it might be even worse so im going with 45-14. I was at the AC and Oak Ridge game anderson county could not catch a pass in that game. AC will get some tune up games before we face Clinton I hope the Clinton players dont think there just going to show up and win!

Last week, I think Clinton's defense was just as exposed as AC's offense. If Clinton wants to go deep in the playoffs, they won't be able to simply outscore teams. With that said, I don't think that Powell, Oak Ridge, or Anderson County have the offensive firepower to beat a team with a good defense. The game against Powell will provide a good indication of what this Clinton defense can do (the Panthers are not quite as potent as Central), but their performance against AC will be a bigger sign of what they'll do defensively in the playoffs.

 

Plus, let's not forget about Oak Ridge. From what I've seen, OR is probably the best defense Clinton will see during the regular season.

Most of Central's yardage came from screen plays, with a heavy blitz called. I like there D and think it's underrated.Nobody has driven on them consistantly, that might change, but when Clinton needed to stop Central they did. The DBs just need to be in the right place. But Powell has good players and the same thing will happen this week if they dont make corrections.

they def wont just think they can show up and win, its gonna be the biggest game this county has seen in forever with both teams having great records and it might be for first place in the division so im expecting a huge crowd. I just dont think AC will be able to handle the clinton O, if i had to pick it right now id say clinton 35-14

Clinton leads 22-12 late in the 4th. I don't know if I've ever seen a field in worse condition.
