Tennessee High hosts Seymour in the Castle

The Vikings are clicking on all cylinders right now and have beaten 2 of the states top 5A teams the last couple of weeks. Seymour's record is only 4-6, but it looks like they've played several teams tough including close losses to Daniel Boone, Jeff County, Sevier County, and Mo. West. I would say that Seymour is a much better team than their 4-6 record shows.

I don't know much about the Eagles...what should we expect next Friday? Who are the players to watch? What do you run on offense and defense? What's the kicking game like?

GO VIKINGS!

Go Eagles. What's on the concession menu or a good place to eat?

They have Chick-fil-a sandwiches and I think Little Caesar's pizza. They also have hot dogs. Some places to eat near the Stone Castle are Applebees, Fatz, and Blue Circle.

If you haven't been to the Stone Castle before, I hope you enjoy it; it's a very unique place for a football game.

Fatz is it. How far from the Castle?

Seymour has had some very hard breaks. They very well could be 8-2 or 7-3. They have some very good athletes who won't stop playing hard. They lost but out played Mo West, Sevier County, Jeff County, and played Boone even. Seymour will bring a pretty good crowd.

It's not too far from the Stone Castle. About a mile or so. Here is a link that shows Fatz: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=0,0,1640628853734029123&fb=1&hq=Fatz&hnear=Bristol+Tennessee&gl=us&daddr=1175+Volunteer+Pkwy,+Bristol,+TN+37620-4619&geocode=3044545741394570118,36.568858,-82.198303&ei=C-LsStqNEIm1tgfv8JAx&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=directions-to&resnum=1&ved=0CA0QngIwAA You can follow Volunteer Pkwy on the map until you see Weaver Pike. Then look for Bristol Municipal Stadium, aka The Stone Castle.

Never did figure out why you all didn't move the ball. Checking on some of your preseason stuff, you all ran it down everyone's throat and were putting up big numbers. I know we didn't have a thread started about our game but at the end of the day, I believe your kids were overconfident. Your offense got shut down by Boone and we didn't do much better on offense. Our def made an INT and our special teams won the ball game. So you can say you are even, but I hope your special teams got better. TN High has a kid who kicks off and his shortest kick will be 5 yards in the inzone.

You stick 9 in the box and blitz every single play. On some teams, that'll drive them crazy, on others, they will figure out a way to stop that. You won't be able to have that many rushing against TN High, their QB will throw TD's all night. I was highly impressed by that huge noseguard you all have, I think he might be able to put some pressure...but TN High has a very good o-line. You all have the athletes, you just haven't made plays. Best of luck, you'll enjoy the Castle.

SHS1, how in the world do you outplay three teams and still lose to all three. That I don't understand. But wait I forget we are talking about Seymour. If there is an excuse they have used it. I really think you guys must have a book on excuses. Field to wet, team to fast, team to big (bringing waves of players), scheme not right, team has our signals, I know there are many more, but these are the only ones I can think of now. If I am not mistaken, I think I read that Sevier County had three TD's called back because of holds and outgained Seymour by over 175 yards. Outplayed???????

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
