If anybody in Nashville is still reading this site, who is interested in Nick Pollard? It was the general

consensus around me that we had never seen a better HS kicker. Some of his kicks (in particular the high ones) were like watching a beautiful firework. We were reduced to oohs and aahs.

Div II has some kicking talent this year. Fletcher hit 2 kicks of 40+ yards against Ensworth, on top of 2 solid seasons as the MBA kicker. His consistency is not what you might want, but it's important to remember that MBA has used him in a lot cases where ordinarily you wouldn't dream of trying a FG. I'm comfortable with any MBA game that comes down to kicking.

I agree -- Acosta from CBHS is very good as is Kauffmann from MUS. Pollard was 7 of 8 from over over 40 (five of six from inside 40) according to another website. He also uses the lower college tee for his kick-offs which takes away a little height but is something college coaches like to see. The championship game should be a great one.

It hasn't been that long ago that a 40 yd field goal was really out of the ordinary. I think I saw Gary Mitchell from Hendersonville hit one that long in maybe '72 (straight on, of course...very few soccer style kickers). Bellevue had a longer one, around 50 yds, against Goodlettsville, but it was from a tee on a free kick after a fair catch (there's an obscure rule for you). Now 40 yds is something of a yardstick. If you can't hit that, you really don't have much of a kicking game.

Wrangler615 - I'm beginning to think that the MUS internet webcast site will never be "up" again. If you can figure out a way to get your address to me without compromising our privacy to this site, I gladly will send you a video of the game. I just finished perusing it and have a bit to add to what I already said.

I saw nothing that changed my mind about the 3 bogus pass interference calls against MUS. What is

curious is that the same ref made all 3 calls. My pregame call that Pollard's stronger leg than Kauffman would have no effect of the outcome was accurate. All of Pollard's kicks were touchbacks, so MUS always

started on the 20. However, after 6 MUS KOs, FR started on the 14, 15, 20, 21, 20 and 20. Moreover, Kauffman kicked 3 FGs to Pollard's 2. I consider that basically a "wash." Since I bolted out at the final horn, I missed a touching postgame Christian fellowship prayer meeting at midfield with players from both teams but saw it on the video. I hope it eased the FR players' disappointment at having their season end.
