:thumb: Does rutherford pay that much more than wilson, coach would have plenty of talent there are several players coming back just need the right coach and the right system

We must be as for awhile every Wilson County coach put in for ANY Rutherford County opening! We also have a school board who does not mention cutting sports programs or stopping the buses every time they run out of money.

Also Rutherford County understands how letting the kids lift during their PE period is actually better for them than playing tag or some similar nonsense when they finally get dressed out.

Even the Lebanon coach tried to come here when he was not trying to be a Principal. dry.gif

Coach Hester has said he was going to be an assistant somewhere next year. He is not the guy at WC.

If he is, I hope its at R'dale to help our passing attack and helping on defense so we do know how to defend against it.

Coach Hester is a REAL GOOD coach and only lost at LaVergne because some of his best players suddenly found themselves going to Smyrna. Especially the Sonny and Rod show!

Scuttlebut around the glade is that the top two candidates have turned down the job. The coach from Rutherford apparently turned down the offer made yesterday, and the leading candidate turned it down last Friday. Intersted to see what will happen next!!!!! Maybe they will just cancel football at WC and turn the stadium into a soccer venue!

I heard the Rutherford guy was a Coach Kessler from Smyrna, and you say he turned it down?? And, another turned it down last Friday. Hmm, so I guess that the winner will be behind door #3.

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
