I do know this though, they will pay big bucks for these schools to travel for this event, as Dwyer, Fla is getting paid 30,000 to play Glenville this weekend. That covers air fare and hotel, meals with a little left over, which makes it more than worthwhile to me, return trip or not.

Glenville vs Dwyer

Alcoa and Maryville....READ THIS!! The money should not be an issue. What's the deal?? Get up there and represent TN. What are you waiting for?

I dont blame teams within 7-AAA at all for going a little lighter on their schedule. The playoff system doesnt reward teams for manning up on their schedule, so why do it when that is the ultimate goal, other than a state championship? Blackman has gotten a lot of crap for their schedule the last few years, but its not like they beat up on weaklings and nobody else, they won 7-AAA last year.

I hate that about our playoff system. It sucks!! We just don't have enough teams playing football to warrant 6 classes. It is rediculous! It's all about the T$$AA.

You are right about theT$$AA. Bunch of greedy thugs! Tn in my estimation should have 3 to 4 classes at the most! :thumb:

I think the 6 classifications are great for tennesse high school football...more competitve...large schools 1800 plus students playing a school with 1300 students for a state championship doesnt seem fair in the old classification system...example 5A teams like gallatin, beech and hendersonville have enrollments of 1350 competing for a chance to win a state championship instead of competing against 6A teams like knoxville faragut, oakland , riverdale that are pushing 1800 plus students ...Sure worked for beech last year...like it or not its here untill 2013....

One more congrats to Gallatin for traveling to Ohio and playing this game. And this also from an MBA'er whose football career ended at the hands of the Green Wave. Nothing like stepping "into the arena" win or lose, and putting it on the line.

I'm not sure if McKinley is private or not....but, there is nothing like the massive Catholic private schools that exist in Ohio and KY in TN. MBA beating Moeller is an enormous win simply because (if memory serves) they have roughly 3x as many boys as we do, unlimited financial aid with which to award full scholarships, and about 1/3 the tuition. Then throw in their football tradition. Same for Louisville Trinity. Maybe CBHS is sort of like that I guess, at least #s-wise. I went to grad school with a bunch of St. X and Moeller guys. What stunned me was how many of them, despite graduating in the same class, literally met each other for the first time in grad school. That's how big the schools are.

St. X and Moeller are amazing schools across the board....Academics, athletics, arts, etc. The whole package.

That type of article is the reason I enoyed watching my sons teams beat Ohio teams in Baseball, soccer and the Vols kicking the Buc Eyes tail in 95.

Yeah, that bowl game still doesn't sit well 15 years later in Ohio.

To the state's credit though, while the article wasn't necessarily the most flattering in the world, the fans in Ohio have been really great as a whole on their message boards. Here's one of the threads (lots of class shown by Gallatin as well): Yappi

Now, the Mississippi fans talking about the South Panola-MUS game this week...that's the other end of the spectrum.

What "type" of article? If the outcome was reversed, and the article was from the Gallatin news, or Tennessean, do you think it would have been any different? I read the papers' take on sports outside of the Southeast. Where you stand depends on where you sit.

That's rich coming from a tennessean....I'll take OSU's BCS record over UT's any day.

yea, we stunk up 2 title games. But we're also 5-3 overall(most appearances) in the BCS, with '02 title. BCS

Many other teams on there who have worse records than the Buckeyes. Many wish they had that BCS record.

What is the Buckeye's bowl record against the SEC? Lifetime? Some reference material: I can't seem to find a win in here????

    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
    • I heard Alabama was at Antioch practice and Colorado has offered QB. Hoping the Bears have a great year.
