National Rankings

The new USA Today rankings came out and their is no mention of MoWest or Memphis Central, but single-A Middleton is ranked 10th in the southeast!! REALLY!!?? I see that Oak Ridge,CA is ranked #24 even though MoWest beat them. Also, Potter's House,FL is ranked #21 with 3 losses even though Memphis Central beat them and only has 3 losses themselves. 2 of the 3 losses were to #13 Mt. Lebanon,PA and #3 ranked St. Mary's,CA. I hope this opens some eyes up to just how terrible the USA Today rankings really are. I have been preaching this fact for years now.

Again.....single-A Middleton ranked ahead of everyone else in Tennessee??? USA Today is a joke!!

I'll say this.... Middleton is a good Single A team in Tennessee. They could pose a threat to any of the 14A teams in sub-state. They're more guard oriented than anything. They lost their big post off of last years team. I won't be surprised to see Middleton wind up in Murfreesboro, but I'm not sure about winning it.

I don't agree with their national ranking. I really don't know where the publicity comes from there either. Unless The Commercial Appeal really boosts them up in their paper, I don't see how people have heard of Middleton.

All this does is prove my point about how terrible USA Today really is when it comes to their national rankings. They only do research in the big 4 states(CA,TX, OH, and FL.) I didn't mean for anyone to start bashing Middleton. I think they are a very competitive single-A team, but in no way are they on the same level as the top AAA and AA teams. I wonder if it was a misprint and they might've meant to put Millington instead? At least I could somewhat except that. Those arrogants pricks at USA Today don't have any respect for Tennessee, and they haven't for years. Tennessee is one of the top 2 or 3 states in the entire country for women's basketball.

    • Gleason all over west Carroll in scrimmage. Gleason is big and fast
    • Defending 2A state Champs Westview Lady Chargers are pretty tough. They lost a bunch of production off last year's squad but returned some talent as well. They still McCall Simms, a Tennesseee Lady Vol softball commit as well as solid talent around the diamond. I dont think they are as good as last season but they will definitely be a tough out. Huntingdon Lady Mustangs seem to be pretty stout as well. Don't know much about Riverside other than Westview defeated them earlier in regions. West Tennessee softball is pretty solid all around id say.
    • Eagleville couldn’t catch up to Jones, he did have his location issues but in that game Eagleville popped up everything and the one hit they did have could have been ruled an error. Jeffcoat was a lot sharper in the beginning of the season last year than the end. ER ran out of pitching and still was in striking distance but none the less the better team one. Last seasons tournament was A LOT more balanced and talented. South Pitts starter is a Lefty who was low 80’s but couldn’t maintain his velo throughout the  outing, their #2 was more impressive last year, we knocked him around this year and his mph was down some. Their #3 isn’t bad neither, throws a lot of strikes and sits high 70’s.
    • He actually had a really solid spring.  I could see him getting some backup snaps on offense and be a regular on special teams.  Really athletic kid who can run.
