What are the folks on the Hill thinking about Scharsh's name being rumored for the Independence job ?

Folks/Fans on The HILL are starting to think their might be a problem within the administration if Scharsch leaves. He's got the program going in the right direction and there is alot of excitement among the players and the community in general.

If he leaves, it might be time for the school board and central office to take a hard look at the school administration.

Since 2000 SH has had total of 6 coaches:

Coach Cox: '95-'02.

Coach Mizner: '03.

Coach McKnight: '04

Coach Stone: '05 (filled in as interim while McKnight was serving in Army)

Coach McKnight: '06-'07

Coach DeLaughter: '08 (accepted job, stayed 2 weeks, then went back to McCallie)

Coach Scharsch: '08-present.

Hard to build a program with so much turnover in Head Coaches and assistances.

That has been a problem in years past but that is not the only issue.

1. School needs a legitimate field house and the stadium needs to be finished. 17 years later and it has never been fully finished.

2. Maury County pay is low.

Agreed on the stadium and field house. :popcorneater:

It's the only football facility owned by Maury County Schools. Columbia's stadium is owned by the County. Mt Pleasants owned by the city. Zion plays at Columbia.

On the pay, I don't think there's that big a difference.

From the Maury and Williamson school websites:

Williamson: BS degree with 10 yrs experience: $40,250 + 14% coaching supplement.

Maury: BS degree with 10 yrs experience: $40,168 + 15% coaching supplement.

So is pay really the problem??

Don't quite know if it is an administration problem as much as a combination of bad luck and location. If Sharsch does leave for Williamson it would be a step up in classification and more spotlight for him then Spring Hill. I wouldn't even classify Delaughter as he only stepped on campus twice (one interview and one basketball game). McKnight left for a job he really wanted. Mizer had other issues that contributed to his depature. Before that there was just as much turnover in the administration and the head coach. Couple of interesting things to wait and see on... What happens if the current principal retires and what does happen if Sharsch leaves. Keep us updated 66in74. Oh and was anything ever confirmed about all three Maury County Public Schools playing at Maury County Stadium?

Money ........... money from the system being indirectly pit into the budget. Example: transportation, facilities, summer weight money, money for mowing etc...... that is the opp. for big pay increase. I know Scharsch has NOT been offered the job at Indy........ so all of this talk is really a moot point. He will stay at the Hill and continue to build the program up.

There's nothing wrong with the location. Some of the best deals in housing and quality of life in the whole state. I don't believe in "bad luck". You make your luck!

DeLaughter had a couple team meetings and the kids bought into his B.S. so I consider him to have been a coach.

If the current principal would retire, then I would hope the Assistant Principle Wright would move into that spot. He's a strong supporter of Student-Athletes!

Never heard anything about all the publics playing at Maury Co Park Stadium? The HILL inquired about it for their first home game this year because they re-seeded their home field and was concerned about whether or not it would be ready for the 1st game. Turned out it was ready, so they played MtP at home.

I agree admin may be a problem--seems to have been as many changes in the Principal's job as there have been in head coaches. Do you happen to know those too 66?
