so was the bite really accidental?

I asked Ethan what happened and he told me the Hixson kid stuck his hand in his mouth and he bit down... happened with about 10 seconds left in the match. That is pretty much what I thought I saw when it happened on the mat (Hixson yanked his hand back, ref looked at it, then DQ'd Ethan).

I think it was more out of frustration than with malice.

1st of all the state tournament is full of lucky breaks and the hixson kid wasn't the only one who got some. don't take anything away from this kid because he wrestled with heart and earned that spot in the finals. had a chance to win it but his lucky breaks ran out in the 3rd period when he got hit with a questionable stalling call. ANYWAYS the hixson kid was up by atleast 2 with maybe 20 seconds remaining in the match against the collierville kid. congrats on a silver medal.

Hixson was up 7-2 at time of DQ he had full control of the match, no doubt he was on in the semi's i thought it was going to go the other way but he came out and wrestled one heck of a match. Same for in the finals He did have some good breaks but when it came down to it he wrestled well and deserved every bit of where he ended up at.

I've seen this happen a couple times, one of which involved me. It's unfortunate but don't be too quick to pass judgement on the Henry kid; we've all done stupid things out of frustration in our youth...especially when it comes to things we're passionate about. Talk about zero to hero. (no offense)

But three years ago the only thing you knew about Cookeville was that it was a good stopping point on the way to the state duals. There are obviously some good things going on over that way...keep it up!

    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
