Well, I didnt ask the question because I was looking to start any trouble. But I can tell from the awkward silence in this place that my feelings on it were right.

Im only going to say a couple things and then Im done with it.

First off: Congrats to the girls at Polk Co. And good luck in the Boro.

Second: When it gets this quiet in Baxter, there is a problem.

Lastly: Congrats and good luck to Polk Co. :thumb::bored:

22-2 is amazing to me. I didn't see the game, so I can't really say anything about specific calls, but a team as quick as the Lady Bees typically draw more than 2 fouls. When a newspaper writes solely about the unbalanced fouls, then it must have been pretty bad. Upperman 22 fouls, Polk County 2 fouls. I guess losing by 12 points was pretty amazing because with stats like that, they should have lost by 30. Do any states have a shot clock in high school basketball? Tennessee needs one! Im really getting tired of watching 70's style four corners crap. :bored:

Is in not a good thing to run an offense that gives you the best opportunity to win? Yes the fouls were lopsided but Polk ran zone the entire game and did not foul. Most of Uppermans fouls were in the 4th quarter while trying to catch up, with tired guards from chasing the four corners. :bored:

Lets keep the facts straight. The fouls were 12 to 1 in the first half and 12 to 1 in the second half. Not from playing catch up in the 4th.

Facts are that Polk Co won against a very good team. Good luck next year.

It only takes one, with a quick whistle, to make the whole crew look bad. There are three teams out there, but only one team has whistles.

I was windering how long it would be for someone to comment on the foul situation. I was able to make it to the game and saw all the calls. I didn't find the refs to be horrible, it is just hard for a team to foul when they have the ball 80% of the game as was the case. Once upperman got the ball they would give it to dyer or settle for a three or jump shot. That is why there were no calls against polk. If upperman had drove more and forced contact then they would have gotten calls and no one could foul dyer because she was 6 inches taller than everybody else. I thought that these were two good teams and a pretty good game, I would have liked to see what the score would have been if polk had of played the whole game like they did the 1st period but it was a good game plan in making dyer come out of the lane and guard somebody, that made a very good player uncomfortable playing defense. My only complain about the whole thing was that upperman's coach and players didn't shake hands after the game. I know losing is not fun but come on.

Got to consider Upperman played an agressive man to man defense all night. The most hand checking I have seen all year without being called. The keep away seemed to frustate the bees to the point of reaching and hacking to try to take the ball away. Polk played a drop off zone to keep the ball from getting inside to the big girl and played off enough to invite the long outside shots which just did not fall. Did think one block very well could have been a charge on Polk. Dont think either side felt the refs helped them as much as they could have. And the three pointer at the end of the half to cut it to 8 pts seemed very late after time had expired to everyone on Polks side of the gym but don't hear any gripes about that.

Upperman girls played HARD but were just taken out of their comfort zone. Great effort by both teams.

    • Best-of-three sectional series vs East Robertson at home starting Wednesday.  They put us out last year at this point.  Go Pirates!!
    • I don't believe they have anyone that is surbers caliber but a decent staff overall.
    • Richland plays at McKenzie on Wed.  Should be a good series.  Does Richland have good pitching?
    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
