Who will win this week 1 matchup?

well I will give you the big nod for coaching ( look at tennessean story IHS vs. Stars and how Dyson alomost messed it up at end of game )

anyways.....can we take anything from oakland win from what appears to be a sub par Ensworth team...

1. IHS defense, bend but dont break - - can they do this? Indy gave up tons of yards vs SHS ( 4.9 rush ) suspect Oakland has a much better running game.

2.INDY needs to be able to run the ball or else it will be a loooooong night. IHS managed a whopping 55 yds on the ground.

3. thompson time - can the IHS o line give him time to pass, the kid is gonna be a good one and some very good wideouts but if they cant run the ball and become one demensional watch out.

pick 2 of the above and INDY will win -

as much as i would want INDY to take it......... indy goes back on SR840 1-1

My boys will be 2-0 at this time next week. I am sure of that. The Ensworth win gave them confidence and we need that to go into region play. Ensworth may have been down a little bit but do not belittle the talent that Oakland has. Our strength is in our weight program and no one does it like Coach White at getting these kids in playing shape. To me playing Independence is like playing Siegel. Their fans come in all loud and brash and rude and walk out wanting to fire the coach with their tails dragging between their legs.

Actually i'm taking this into consideration as a closer game than most think, even though Oakland will still win. They were monsters on the ground last week and should do it again this week.

And ok everyone saying on the last thread vs. Siegel and on this one, Indy not getting enough yards on the ground, well ok big deal its obvious to anyone who saw the game first hand that Dyson ran the ball to open up the passing lanes. I'll take a good passing game into the fourth quarter when i'm down anyday.

Also Siegel should of gotten more points on the board they got stupid penalties early, don't think Oakland will screw up like the Stars did.

Oakland will score alot early and fast but Indy will try to make a comeback but come up short. Who knows maybe one yard short :roflol:

28-24

what are your thoughts?

I think people are quick to dismiss Oakland's win is that of over an inferior opponent. In truth, Ensworth is a pretty good team, just was outplayed and outworked by a team that has had this game circled since last year's game. You can make an argument that up to this point, Oakland could be just as good on defense as they were last season, just a different method of attack than the last 2 years. Under McDaniel, Oakland has handled Williamson Co. pretty well: Beating, Franklin for state title, Crushing both Independence and Brentwood in 2009.

I think if Independence cannot run the ball successfully then they will have a very tough time throwing the ball against Oakland's secondary, which IMO is the best unit on the team. I think you will see more variety in Oakland's offensive attack this week, just a hunch. If I were to pin a score prediction to it, I would say Oakland 28 Independence 7

    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
    • I heard Alabama was at Antioch practice and Colorado has offered QB. Hoping the Bears have a great year.
