How did everything go?

Westy was a little better than I thought they would be, but it was a J.Kelly coached team. They have a few good linemen and #7 was a player. SCs Defense good as usual, and the Offense shot themselves in the foot a couple of times with a turn over or 2. Now that I think about it, I don't remember SC punting, although they may have once or twice. SC threw the ball well to a number of different recievers.#25,#8 and #22 ran the ball well, with #25 getting a couple of scores with some good runs. SC could have scored again but let the clock run instead of running it up a little more. Still room for improvement in some spots. Got to keep the heads down and keep digging.

Croz.....sounds like there was a lot of puckering going on over on the southside.

Heck of a game. The game wasn't over til the horn blew. Just wish we could've won.

Lately, G-ville has 4 tough games right out of the gate, and normally would be happy with winning 2 of the 4. Expectations may have been a little higher this year, but being .500 at this point with a tested team is still good. With beating Westy and FC, playing TC down to the wire, and lessons learned from the SC game, maybe they can take what they learned and keep building from here on out.

I sure hope so. Lessons are still being learned, and hopefully they get applied to the future.

Just curious, did the younger players get any field time last night?

:hungry:

Blubellz dear...a few in the last quarter. #25 Jalen Manning is looking good. 3-4 touches = 2 TDs. The last drive was all 2nd -3rd teamers, and could have scored but SC chose to let time run out...the future looks bright.

ty Darlin' Termie .. but tell me why with a score such as SC had last night more players weren't put in earlier ??? Wouldn't that be the smart thing to do ? I'd think that you'd be looking ahead as much as possible and play those players that will be/ should be starters within the next two years.... but then ... I'm no coach .. :thumb:

There were some sprinkled in but not wholesale changes until last quarter. You got to remember..the Carter twins=soph, Carr=soph, Manning=frosh, Stevenson=soph, Sapp=soph, will be the starters the next 2-3 years. The younger players that play skill positions (RB-DB-WR-LB) tend to get more work probably because of speed, while other positions tend to require strength, which most younger players don't have yet. Overall, this is a young team. ( Scurlock-Johnston-McKinney-Nuss-Pinson-Webb are all I can think of that started the whole season last year)

Westy, even in a down year, is a strong physical team, and a team that gives a chance to get in some good work. The youngens will get their chances before the year is over.

How's that for an uneducated guess....

    • I have no issues with the Karns Middle School program.   Good coaches and he's with the kids he goes to school with.  He's a rising 6th grader who had to play with 6th grade kids last year because Karns didn't have enough kids for a 5th grade age team.  He's in a good place at this point.   My daughter is a single mom with 4 kids under 11 years old.  We help her out with logistics, so staying in our own area right now is important.  Once he gets to high school age, who knows what happens?  That bridge will be crossed when we get there.
    • I know he was a backup but I thought he filled in well when the starter went down. Never a bad thing to have a change of pace back
    • That would be a good get for them. Lowe always finds a way. Pretty sure they have their Rb from last year returning but not that line of beef
    • One school has said it, it was York…who Oneida and many school that played them before we did claimed that they were the dirtiest bunch they’ve played. Riverside didn’t call us dirty nor did smith after they beat us. Ur only dirty if your the one giving out the whoopins.
    • If it was anyone but #8 I would agree with you. Theirs a couple people on that team that probably would. Not him. And I who was standing on the 1st base line fence saw clearly that the boys foot was covering more than half the bag.
