Purple & Gold Standard
The coaching staff and the whole nine yards was worked out last summer and everything was for the most part ready to go. Till the before mentioned happened. So this past summer all the high school coaches Were able to do was let 6,7,8th grade kids come to field house three days a week and they worked them out with cardio and agility drills. There were football players, basketball players, softball players boys, girls, and even a few moms there working out, all by the high school assistant coaches. Was an awesome thing to see and would bet not many people know how much those coaches were doing for are young people. Who were the coaches going to be ?? ocucsf
Well without any of there concent and respect I wont put There names on here but it would have been a proven group of coaches. And it would have saved the county some money because you would have done away with a few assistant coaching positions cutting down on the cost of coaches supplements being payed out now at the junior highs. Plus instead of paying 5 different bus drivers and 5 different fuel bills for the different games the feeder schools would travel too, you would have two busses with two teams one maybe two nights a week. Money that could have been diverted to one 7-8 grade team and there needs. The people that were against it should ask the 8th grade kids this year if they would like a rematch with the teams they play outside of the county with an all 8 grade team and see what they say! Instead of making decisions on there pride because there kid may or may not be the star WB, or RB!
ocucsf
Just to prove that the junior high kids using the high school system works. Ridgemont is the only school that has been using the high school system 100% since coach Jackson has been, and This year there are three freshman that are practicing with the varsity and not the freshman block, all three came from Ridgemont! Wonder why that is?
Tornadopride
How many schools across the state have a county school system that has ( 4 ) elementary schools feeding ( 1 ) high school. Not Many at all. This is what will always hurt the county sports..the kids are there to win. Just everyone getting on the same page. Just this year, Union City FINALLY was able to play Lake Road in football. It was a no contest game...Union City blew them away. You put all 4 elementary schools together and you have a good game like we saw this past Friday night. Just a thought.
ocucsf
Exactly the point. Wouldn't be much better to put these kids together and go play with some real competition?

I think the ONLY two teams UC has EVER played in junior high football is Hillcrest and Lake Road...I don't believe Ridgemont or Black Oak have ever played UC... ocucsf
I don't think so either, a couple years ago though when my son was at Ridgemont we tried to Get a scrimmage together with UC but never could, we waited too late and the game schedule got in the way. ocucsf
Like someone else told me, This is an issue that needs to be pushed. But unfortunately There are not enough parents that care to make it happen, or are willing to listen to all the positives of this with an open mind. It's like I said earlier...It needs to be done but to the people who make those decisions sports aren't that big a deal plus they don't want to be the ones with their necks on the line to take sports away from all the feeder schools...They don't want the hassle they will get from a majority of parents... ocucsf
Your right, its much easier and makes more sense to them to just set back and keep regurgitating failure athleticaly for another 49 years. They can't see the academic value that good athletic programs bring to schools. But the schools don't mind the money the gates bring on Friday nights!
