A tall challenge for the Mavs. Halls used Powell's approach in defending us last Friday but they don't have the players that Powell has so it didn't work as well and we made some adjustments too. I'm not familiar with OR's DBs or whether their D-line is as good as it was last year. Our O-line has improved. Anyhow, the key for AC is defense. We will move the ball on OR I would think. So, the tale of the tape will be whether we protect the ball (limit turnovers) and make some stops against the Cats.

Oak Ridge actually played competitive with Maryville; managed to beat themselves. They will be ready for Anderson County. AC did score at least 12 points against Powell. But this is a home game for Oak Ridge. AC Fans really need to pack the stands on this one. Coaching staff I am sure are doing there home work on this one; on both sides. I would not rather make predictions but I will guess AC 35-20.

The rumor here in Middle Tn is that Coach Blade is very interested in being the head coach at the new Summit High School. Is there any talk in O.R. about this.

havent heard a thing about that, but wouldnt surprise me... blade is known for not staying at places long... if true, id rather have somebody who wanted to be at oak ridge anyways.. so, whatever as far as that goes.. i say OR 28 AC 24 in this one.. oak ridge blitzes a lot so that may cause ac qb problems... we will see, could really go either way.

This is a hard game for me to pick. Im not sure which AC team will show up. I know Oak Ridge has a tough defense. I believe if OR doesnt turn the ball over last week against Maryville....it is a totally different game, but turnovers are a part of the game.

I believe Oak Ridge finds a way to slow down AC's passing attack. Im gonna go with Oak Ridge in a close one.

I say.... Oak Ridge 31 AC 28

This game will make or break our season. If we win, then we will likely finish 7-3. A loss puts us at 2-4 and may affect us mentally to the point that we lose another game and finish 5-5 or possibly worse. We are better than the remaining four teams on our schedule after Anderson County. We are fixing to face a great QB and our secondary and overall pass defense leaves a lot to be desired. I hope we are ready for this one. I am still shattered at the realization that our once proud program is where it currently is. We strike fear into no one. The respect is gone. We are just another team that happens to have a great history. There has to be an answer to this dilemma. I am just not certain what it is.

There is one team that I know right now that are licking their wounds that respect Oak Ridge like no other... We need to eliminate our mistakes... Our O needs some serious help. if our D shows up like they did ast week for the rest of the season- win or lose that is progress.. And we have been down for at least four years-- in my eyes anyway.. It's not easy to rebuild a program JMO.. It takes time.

I am bothered that you can list but a single team, and even that team doesn't have the respect it once did. The expression "Oak Ridge Football" doesn't mean what it once did. I agree that we have been down for several years. We are doing LOTS of things better than we were doing them a few years ago BUT...we strike fear into NOBODY. I mean we are worried about beating ANDERSON COUNTY!!! Something has to change but I am not sure what it is. The atmosphere is different. I don't feel like the kids look at OR Football they way they used to. The community doesn't seem to care like it once did. The administration is probably even worse than the state of our football program. There is not a single leader anywhere that I know who has the power to do anything to help, that even seems to care. Meanwhile, we HOPE to beat ANDERSON COUNTY to salvage a winning season...SICKENING.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
