Hampton "DOGS"

I remember when mike was at cloudland, I'd hear some morons on the sideline complaining about not throwing the ball more while Byrd, Benfield, Clipse, Jones, and the Shells were piling up 1500 yard seasons and 8, 9, and 10 win seasons. You always play to the teams abilities. It takes great discipline for receivers to run perfect routes and the timing has to be right with the QB. We don't have those kinds of recievers up here. A successful running game allows for opportunities with play action pass. I wouldn't throw it know more than 10 times a game. The only reason Cosby threw it as much as they did is Cloudland completely shut down there run game. Its like Pujo said, you better be able to run the ball.

I have a question for Hampton/Pujo fans. How does this Hampton team compare to the one we saw in 2007 at South Pittsburg? I have opinion on it from comparing scores this season, but I wanted to ask someone familiar with the Dogs.

This taem is not as good, they are getting better and they have some strengths. That team was pretty good.

Not as good as in 35-40 points? I looked at Hampton's schedule and it appears they struggled with some pretty bad teams this year.

Na' its not that much difference, they've had some very key people out.Played games where the whole starting backfield was out.Blown some leads. But the last 3 weeks have been much better, they won't be anyones chumps. They'll be a tough out come playoff time if they can stay healthy.

Mmmmm...not a moron and not complaining! My point was that pass blocking needs a lil more improvement to allow this team to be a lil more dangerous....now, do you refer to Hampton or Cloudland's receivers not being able to run precise routs and QB timing?

Uknoit2, I don't believe you know much. They have applications for coach if you would like to try. I saw the dogs whip Johnson County and thought they were really doing good and improving greatly. Then they play Hancock County and the same bunch is hurt again. They'll have a hard time with Cloudland. I hope they can win. I still say if they all played with toughness like a few of them do, they could win 2 or 3 playoff games. Without it one and done. :o

Dogbreath, been in this football stuff for some time. Not sure what you read that led to your reply but I hope you reread this thread. I have not questioned the coaches nor the job they are doing. But as you see a need for this bunch to be tougher and shake off a bump, I see a need for a lil better pass blocking (just to give them the complete game). I too hope they continue to play better and become hard nosed as they were against Johnson Co...Hope we are now on the same page

I think we are on the same team and want the best for the BULLDOGS, Pass blocking or any basics that make you better is a definate plus. The Coaches work hard and they'll try to improve in every area. Our biggest need is keeping our starters on the field and selling out every play. We do that and we'll be fine. They dominated 2 of the last 3 games, they even dominated 3 quarters against Johnson Co. Johnson Co is a pretty good ballteam. Still think this bunch has a shot at 10 and 0. Who wouldn't be happy with that. When the season started, I thought it possable to lose at least 5. As far as that goes, all 4 remaining games are loseable.

    • It was not ACHS at all, they have zero reason to worry about Clinton.  It had to do with a kid (non football player)  that had a charge and appeared in front of the juvenile judge.  The judge saw that the kid was way behind credit wise for his grade and told him to reappear in a month with a plan to graduate.  When the kid reappeared he had more that twice the credits than one month before.  The judge called BS and contacted the school.  That is what started the investigation.  This involves multiple students, but to this point no athletes are involved.
    • I believe the Covington Chargers travel to Trenton Peabody for a scrimmage today? Anyone going to this? Curious how the Chargers will do.
    • Good ole Bradley Zulliger. He was a really good QB @ OR. Fun to watch.  Wore #15 and was like a mini Tebow, with the exception of being right handed. He could take a pounding and keep on ticking. Played with a collapsed lung against Powell that year. Tough as nails.
    • They should be pretty good in year two for Rang.  Replacing most of the offensive production losing Dozier, Hayward and Rembert , but they're are skill kids in place ready for their shot.  I know I say this every year, but the o line should show improvement after two years in Rang and Kevin Day's weight program.  I still would favor West over Plow and OR come November.  The Rebs will have to grow up a bunch between now and then, and will probably take some lumps along the way with that schedule.  But I predict come playoff time they will be ready.   One of their coaches half joked to me that they could go 5-5 regular season and win the state championship.  Ha ha.
    • there will be a couple of teams, that could make some noise
