Maybe you don't get to read the news! Blackman beat Oakland 2 weeks ago and # 7 Brentwood by dominating them and only loss was to then #1 smyrna in week 3 and are about to beat riverdale. Smyrna and Blackman must be in this poll to make it even close to being right! Spend 75 cents and you'd learn alot! :unsure:

havent seen them play...nor do i know much about them..care to enlighten me?

Since there name is not Melrose nor do they have University in their title (such as MUS), most folks view Ridgeway as just another Memphis school...when there couldn't be a more inaccurate accessment! Ridgeway has a new coach (after the former coach retired) and he has taken over a already "very good" program and is putting up huge numbers against some of the state's best competition! For instance..defensively, the Roadrunners held Whitehaven (the next best team in Memphis) scoreless beating them 7-0. This game represents Whitehaven's ONLY loss on this season's schedule which includes a victory over Christian Brothers. They were the first to knock of last year's 6A State Champions by beating White Station in their 1st game 25-14 opening everyones eyes to this year's Roadrunners! Realizing Melrose is way down..they still went to Orange Mound (the state's toughest venue) and beat the Golden Wildcats 44-14! So far, they have outscored their opponents 291-94 with a game with Kirby remaining. They are the best team in Memphis regardless of class or division! Unfortunatly, they (Ridgeway) will play in Quad 4 of the 5A playoff bracket which also includes Jackson Northside and most likely Henry County. Northside should also be in this very discussion as the state's top list...if it were a top 6 or top 7 list...the Northside Indians would deserve a spot as well!

and to the other posters...as good of a season as Greenville is having...they are not in this discussion as the "State's Top 5"!

Even after 9 weeks, this is still a very hard topic but here are the teams I would list in a Top 5;

1. Blackman

2. Oakland

3. Ensworth

4. Smyrna

5. Ridgeway

Wait..I can hear it now..."what?...no Alcoa!!??"..........yep, No Alcoa in the Top 5! Nor Maryville! Top 10, both would probably be in..along with MBA, Brentwood Academy, Jackson Northside, and I noticed nobody has mentioned Franklin or Powell...both are extremely good! Anyone think either Franklin or Powell should be on the list?

I think DB is the best team in NET but there a lot of very good teams in Tennessee to be in the top five of all classes.Thanks for the props however.

    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
    • I am talking about what they both did for their team. They both carried their team for four years while they were both there. I wasn’t really comparing them that would be unfair. Bishop is on a level of his own.
