Greenback's defense forced turnovers early, but the offense misfired and fumbled six times in the game, recovering two. With no hopes for a postseason because of a TSSAA sanction, Grace Christian (7-3, 4-1) played its seniors all game long despite a 26-0 lead at the halftime and a sputtering Cherokee offense that had 4 yards net rushing in the first half.

Grace coach Randy McKamey said he hoped that Greenback fans and coaches would “understand.†Friday was the last game of the season for his team, and two players were approaching records on offense.

“This is it,†McKamey said. “We're done. It was their last night. We have nothing to look forward to.â€

Does TSSAA know about this? I thought no post season meant no post season.

We contacted the TSSAA to check with them. According to TSSAA a team not qualifying for the post season can schedule an 11th regular season game.It's kind of like USC getting to schedule a 13th game this year since they can't qualify for a bowl game. The only thing is both teams must have at least 5 wins to qualify for an additional game; which we both have.

 

I'm looking forward to playing Grace. That was not right to leave the starters in up that big, just because they want to break records.

We are looking for teams to play.

 

The only team that I know that we have schedule beyond the district teams is Bearden. Beyond that CAK approached us about playing both years at Rhea County.

At least we are getting the chance to play in another game unlike somebody. The size of the school dosn't mean much, just how many people go to school there. I'm just happy that somebody wants to play us because everyone else we contacted didn't want to play. To bad Clinton couldn't get enough wins to play again. Oh well we are looking for teams to play next year.
