My son and I was just discussing this. Bryson is more versatile as a player but I would vote Mathers also. Mathers also seems to be a very humble kid.

As much as it would be good to see Bryson get it since I have been watching him for these last 4 years, it is hard to argue against Mathers. Everyone said the "weak" early schedule was what got him the yards, but these last 3 games he has proven he is the real deal. The game against Smyrna was a little mis-leading. True he only had less than 80 yards, but 75 of them were in the first half and got less than 5 carries in the 2nd half. A lot of people in the Smyrna stands were wondering if he was injured in some way....nobody has since confirmed that though.

If there is a better player than Sean Seabolt out there, then he must be special! He should definitley be playing at the next level. He runs the triple option very well and is no slouch at defense. I've seen Devrin Young play and no doubt that he would be deserving of this title also. Let's keep these young men inside the borders of TN!

2070 yards rushing...24 TD's...and right at 685 yards rushing in the last three games vs. at the time the # 1, # 7 and # 7 teams in the state...and he has missed at least 8 quarters of play because we were way ahead at the time !

Jeremiah Bryson is a great football player but statistically he has not had a better year than Mathers as a Running Back

Mathers...no question! Saw him play last night and saw Bryson a few weeks ago, haven't seen the Young kid though, but based on what I've seen...it's Mathers by a landslide!

Also remember there is not a 6A Mr. Football. Just a AAA Mr. Football where 5A and 6A players are combined. Another stupid thing the TSSAA has done to ruin the sport. It is ok to have 6 state champions, but not award 2 individual students in each class. We have officially found something worse than the BCS, its the TSSAA.
