Hey, not blaming Boone, not blaming South, but I am blaming TSSAA for devising a system that is so simple yet still doesn't compare apples to apples. I'm just saying, you better win as many as you can and not take any chances with non-conference games. Just schedule perennial cupcakes regardless of classification. South took a financial bath with the scheduling of West as well. We filled their place up while they brought about 150 to our place representing lost revenue of approximately $5000 for us.

 

The economic factor is a fact of life. I don't think any of the Knoxville area teams travel well. Meanwhile South is as fanatical as Texas commnities in this regard. Gate City fans are a good $. Probably almost as good as DB. When South travels we take every drop of blood relation and then some. We will be hard pressed to find such dedication.

At the DB/Farragut game most of the visitor section was Big 8 fans. Farragut brought next to nothing. I sat with them and they were more concerned with the race than the game.

I would think our fanbases would help with our scheduling because we travel so well. Other schools should be lined up to play us because their gate is going to be really good. In the end finances will win out with smaller schools. If I am a coach at a smaller school why would I want to play the likes of Boone or South and get taken to the woodshed and possibly hurt my playoff chances? Money is why and it will win out in the end.

Listen Smart ___ I am a fan of a lot of the NET schools. I am concerned for South's program. You enable and support the bad choices made which will become evident to even the densest this season. The sad thing is the kids will have to deal with it and will be held responsible at school, in the community and on here for things out of their control.

 

If you would like to continue, I would be glad to spell out exactly what my concerns are. Your buddies might not like that much.
