In your opinion, those three very big problems are?

(1) We need to get bigger, stronger and faster.

(2) Special teams coaching!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(3) Last but most important, the offseason workouts should be mandatory and controlled by your team captains. If you can't dedicate yourself to this team completely(which is what Maryville does) then find the ones who will.!!!!!!!!

Roll Tribe Roll!!!!!!!!!!!!

The three "big problems" I was refering to. #1) Team Discipline, way to many stupid penalties all season long. That is what cost us the game against Bearden. Two dead ball personal fouls in a tight playoff game is hard to believe, but we did it. #2) FIX THE SECONDARY FOR GODS SAKE!!! for the past three years our sceem has been "don't get within 5 yrds of the receiver until he catches the ball. We had three of the best athletes in east tn. playing back there this year, the secondary coach is suposed to be a good one, he has been good before, I just don't understand what's going on there. Our pass defense is putting pressure on the quarterback and thats about it. #3) Special teams, We need to find a kicker that can kick a 30yrd. field goal. a kicker that can kick past the 20 on kick offs at least. There are girls kicking 30 yrd. field goals now.

Now I have to give Graham Clark his props. Many of us believed that Clark had been going down hill with his play calling and game plans since 2006. Well this year we got to see the old Graham Clark back in true form. I think he did a great job all season long. You couldn't ask for better play calling against Bearden. I hope he continues with the same plan next year. We will have the athletes to do it.

Nobody crying on this thread. We're just getting ready for next season's biggest game where we plan to put #18 in a row on South. My favorite "Big Game" win was in 2006 when DB put the beat down on the little 5A South 44-0. :) It was a classic.

I don't know the schedule but I'd love to play Greeneville while they have a really good thing going.I don't see a lot of good by getting teams like Maryville on your schedule now with the way the TSSAA has it so screwed up.I'd like to play Gate city.It would be a huge game in this area.

DB has absolutely nothing to gain by scheduling a Gate City game. I think DB wins by 4-5 touchdowns. What I would like to see is a home and away with Alcoa!

Money, thats the only thing. We could collect $7. from every resident in Gate City. We would win the game and for the next 10 years listen to everybody whine about us being the big school whipping up on a little 1A school. Alcoa would be a excelent choice. A loss to Alcoa would be better than a win over Tennessee High as for as getting your team ready for the playoffs. Id like to see us drop Clinton and pick up Alcoa.

I would argue that DB has nothing to gain by playing Alcoa. If DB wins, folks will say they beat a small school and should have won. If we lose, people will say we got beat by a small school. We lose either way, IMO. I also don't think that we could beat Alcoa, soothe losses wouldn't help from a confidence stand point either.

Remember, Alcoa has beaten Maryville two years in a row. One of those wins came without Alcoa completing a single pass. Alcoa doesn't need to outcoach teams (and they have a fine staff) - they out-athlete everyone they face.

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
