District 9-A

#20 for Eagleville is Hawks. He's gone unnoticed for the most part throughout the season as he typically doesn't put huge points on the scoreboard(averages about 8 points a game) but is one heck of a defensive player, rebounder and is very quick up and down the court. He's shut some key scorers down against opponents this year. He's done that all year, not just in the tournament. I seen a few weeks ago he was in the top 5 high school players in Rutherford county for assists. I say he goes unnoticed because he recevied an all tournament award and the DNJ didn't even point that out in the report last night. Just listed Davenport and Ledwell as all tournament for Eagleville, not Hawks. It's a shame, kid deserves more credit in my opinion. Not taking anything away from Ledwell or Davenport as they are both great players as well and key for Eagleville. I bet MTCS wish they would have paid more attention the other night when Eagleville moved Hawks down low and he scored 17 points before they figured out what happened.

Congrats to Eagleville...it was a hard played physical game by both teams. There is some real good talent this year in District 9A. Forrest looked good last night too.

All the credit goes to Hawks. MTCS did pay attention and switched defenders on Hawks after his first two baskets. Davenport had a sub-par night (scored 1 in the first half and 9 in the second -- all from the free throw line). Hawks was the difference in the game. Good luck to the District 9 teams in the Region.

    • If an attorney sees enough merit in the case they will take it and only collect if their client wins. Happens in civil cases all the time.
    • Groves got the ball over 20+ times. His son arguably played the best for East in that game. 3rd and long multiple times and he came up big to continue a couple drives. Please shut up for the 3rd year in a row
    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
