Ole3putt
Thanks, Seven. If you don't know the answer to that question, I sure ain't gonna find it. I doubt that ther's many teams had the pleasure of playin' at the Beene and the Creekbank in the same year, much less a chance of winnin'. I did notice that Signal's 523 net rushing yards wuz just 23 yards short of Trousdale's record 546 in 1998 vs. USJ. If Coach had know'd we'z that close, we would have run it more. i was wandering if you came across that.. i was not gona say anything.. but you all were close. Ole3putt
congrats out to the "2A STATE CHAMPS" Singnal Mountain! Eagles, you guys have experienced an unforgetable yr.. All of you guys can look back now, take a deap breath (but dont relax), reflect on the hard work, detication it took to get where you're at now (On Top). You Sr's are to be commended on the leadership you provided to the under-classmen throughout the year. It will now be left up to you guys. Jr's, Soph & Fresh. to carry on & maintain that Bar & new tradition that has been set in place (Distric / Region, State championship). it will be very difficult to stay where you're at, but it can be done. Keep your goals high! The 2011 season.. it starts now. Troll, WoW... what a yr! alot of us here & others (I wont mention)were looking for a MK-TC showdown, but just was not ment to be (Eagles / Lions kinda threw a kink in it). you Eagles flew into the "Creekbank" on an Nov. Friday night and played some football with us & accomplished something very few teams accomplish. (Winning at the Creekbank during state playoffs)eventhough there was some extra cirricular activities after the game. It was still one fine football game with two teams going at it & leaving it all on the field! maybe some day i can get out to the Signal Mountain area and witness/expereince football on the mountain. I wish you guys the best in yrs to come foot note: we've been know to play-up in classification too..

Gotta a great school and quality people leading the kids, they remind me of a young Maryville. They'll compete just fine in 4a and it may not be too long before they bring home that prize. Its just a great situation. I picked SM to bring it home berore the season even started, looks like it may be Trousdales turn again next season. Hopefully My Bulldogs can make a little noise also. rlh
I saw Alcoa up close while they were warming up and watched part of their game ...Coach Price is a vary smart man. The Tornadoes are getting better and better if you can believe that. I think the only 2 teams that could stay on the field with Alcoa this year were CAK and Polk County. The actually beat Maryville (there only loss) in the regular season and Maryville is the 6a State Champion. Edited December 7, 2010 by rlh
MountainTroll
Thanks guys. Means a lot coming from respected men, such as yourselves. I can assure you Signal Mountain will not falter. With or without future success, we will remain a classy program. It's been said many times, "Act like you've been there before." Now we can. Our school and community's youthful exuberance hasn't always been classy, but we're learning, and we will display our Champion banner honorably. Of course, at some point, we will have to learn to lose honorably, also. Just don't expect that lesson to come anytime soon. Troll ain't goin' nowhere. I'll do my best to continue as Signal's conscience and voice of level-headed reason. NOT!
rlh
Ha my true affiliations are with Texas high school football, if you think East Tn football is "beast" you are way off point. In terms of the nation, East Tn is very average at best Texas is over rated. Valdosta High School has a stadium bigger than the one used in Cookeville for the title games. Alabama used to say stuff like that until 1999 when SP and TC beat there eventual 1a and 2a state champs.
snoball5278
I'm glad somebody finally pointed out that you can play up but you can't play down. I don't think the TSSAA is overly fond of us judging from the reaming out that some of us took after the game by the head guy. I'm fairly certain they wouldn't allow us to play for the championship in a class they didn't put us in. Just sayin'. My son watched the Trousdale thugs trying to start a fight and watched them get escorted out. I'm sure the "slapper" was the same young Signal kid who supposedly attacked and spit on a little old lady and her little bitty defenseless grandson. He must have dressed up as an adult so he could slap some kid and get away with it. I guess all these brainless rumors won't stop until a certain team's fan base picks up their collective lower lip and moves on to next year. I'll bet their players are moving on and looking forward. Perhaps the rest should. if the signal slapper wasn't an adult, then the eagle mascot just "tripped" at trousdale. Ma'am, perhaps you should take your own advice and move on. Also, buy a box of tissue's, dry your eye's and quit being such a negative nancy. congrats to the eagles once again. and let's have a another big round of applause for the coacht rookie of the year... "the mountain troll!!!"* * i voted for mancoverage's goat. Edited December 7, 2010 by snoball5278
