Class AA Favorites for next season?

Recommended Posts

Look for CAK to rattle some cages next year.....Altho they are still very young and maybe still a year away from the boro they are adding some very talented freshman to the mix including another talented guard.....a 6-0 wing and a 6-5 post....Returning will be current starters Anna Hammaker (8th grader averaging 18 a game) Kaci Heitzman talented soph to be ...and Ellie Nelson who stepped up in big games last year. Like I said might be a year early but a very bright future for this squad.

You've got a good one coming your way next season out of McMinn County. Tremendous basketball player and an excellent young lady, too!

The verdict still waiting on our young coach at Gibson County. We lost two great coaches in back to back years, but I think he had a good year considering what we lost last year. One of our best returning post players quit in the early season and our leading scorer in the District Tournament couldn't play in the Region-Semis due to a viral infection, which we lost in OT, and had a 5 footer go off the rim in regulation to win it. But I think our experience this year will help us get back to the Boro next year. If we would have been healthy in the region, we would have been there this year. We would have been a competive team if we would have made it, but don't think we could have played with Central's post. But, don't be suprised if Gibson County makes some noise next year. And, of course you have to say Central will be favored. We seen what their backups can do. Macon will be back as well. Lipscomb looked very young. Going to be fun.

Lipscomb has no seniors on the team. So every player will be back next year. There are no guarantees, but the Lady Mustangs should be tough next year. In addition, in 10AA CPA only graduates one senior so they should be very good again as well. When you consider that Lipscomb, CPA and Macon County are all in the same region, one very good team won't be playing in a sectional. Should be fun!

I agree. The only thing I worry about with next years Gibson Co. team will be our size. We will be returning Haynes, Alexander and Reedy in the starting 5 with the other 2 starting spots up in the air. We will really need a post presence next year and the only person that really comes to mind is Sara Mullins starting as a Sophomore next year. I also hope Magan Porter can step it up alot next year and run the PG position consistently every game letting Haynes and Alexander spot up on the outside. That's what I hope for anyways. If we can get some players to step up this offseason, we'll be fine. Also, our Jr. Highs are loaded with talent right now so the future looks bright. There's a possibility that we drop to Single A in a few years. If that happens, JACKSON CO. WATCH OUT!

CPA is returning all five starters and should be ranked pretty high next year. They started three sophomores this year.

Macon returns all five startes as well plus the Coley girl, should be back full time and healthy, so that would actually be 6 starters back Macon started three sophomores. Should be a fun year next year!

I think I heard somewhere that Macon County isn't losing anyone. If that's the case, they will be very tough to beat. I also think that Central will re-load once again. It seems that no matter who they lose from year to year, they are always contenders. That just speaks to how great Coach Morgan is. Central is 132-8 over the past four years. So, I'm inclined to believe that Coach Morgan will find a way back to the 'boro next year.

May want to add Grundy Co. Lady Jackets to the list, all 5 starters return from a 21-8 record, and they are deep on the bench. big girls 6'2" Coffelt, has added about 15 lb of muscle so far this year, 6' Wiseman is as strong as they come. Meeks 6' point guard and a bulldog on the defensive side from Stiefel will turn many heads this fall. This could be the year of the Jacket District better batten down the hatches this year could be a major STORM BRUING FROM THE MOUNTAIN.

Yall would be lucky to make it out of the region and sub-state if that were to happen.Much less worry about Jackson Co.

ARE YOU SERIOUS!?!?!?! We made it to the region semi's this year in AA with a bunch of Sophomores and Juniors(only 2 that played serious minutes the year before). We drilled Bradford this past year in the Christmas tournament. We drilled Greenfield in a preseason game at Gibson Co. If we were to drop to Single A, we'd be in Murfreesboro more years than not. Our middle schools are stacked with talent right now. For your sake (and Lake Co.'s), you better hope you don't see Gibson Co. drop to Single A basketball. Once TT is gone, Lake Co. will not be heard of again.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
