This is what everyone said about the milan game. I've bought in to the Hornets!

Hornets get the upset

SGC-24

OC- 17

If SG holds the Rebels to 17 points I would be totally shocked. The least they've scored this year is 33 agaisnt Westview which has a solid D. After 6 games the Rebs are averaging 42 points a game. If SG is to pull the upset they will have to score at least that much. Like treefitty said I think this will be a close game in the first half and may be through out. OC's coaches have made great adjustments in the second half which has been the difference in a couple of wins this year. I think the Rebs will be fired up seeing it is homecoming and a chance to make history by being the first OC team to start 7-0. Hate I've got to miss it. Go Rebs!

LHS, if you went to the Milan/SG game, you'd now know that South Gibson's secondary is suspect. That is BAD news going up against a team like OC. If Milan was getting yards on those short passes they were throwing, then OC will be racking them up all night. OC will win by atleast 3 TD's. I'd like South Gibson to win it, but I just don't see it happening. For OC fans, watch the Walden brothers, Carlos #3 and Quincy #10. By looking at them, you'd think they were just pretty good athletes, but when it comes game time they make some unbelievable plays.

It is not just the coaches. Believe it or not, the defensive players made adjustments themselves during halftime of the Crockett game before the coaches got done meeting with each other. I'm sure the coaches made a few changes as well, but that is a sign of an experienced, mature defense with a chip on its shoulder if you ask me. Let's hope that chip remains there throughout the season!

As long as somebody is making them that's all that matters. I think last night was a great test for the Rebs. MC had a very balanced offense and a great scheme. I think they'll see alot of that type of offense down the stretch especially now that other teams have tape of it. They faced adversity when they trailed for the first time all season and they responded well. Overall they didn't play there best game of the year and still found a way to win. That will be great for there confidence the rest of the season.

South Gibson had that Gibson County rivalry thing going for them against Milan...Getting the big dog at home for the first meeting between the two programs and to top it off SG was unbeaten...This is probably Homecoming Week for the Rebels but I doubt Coach Jackson will even allow his team to think about all that...Besides, this is an opportunity for this program to be 7-0 in well, forever...

SG better bone up on their onside kick and two-point conversion defense because they are gong to get a big dose of it...

This one will be over at half...

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
