MBARED
Sure is neat to see all the DII AA teams make the playoffs.... Got to think the excitement on the practice field ate JPII this week will be just CRAZY. Probably better for a few of these teams to close up the locker room and fore go the post season. As a coach you just hope there are no career ending injuries that might effect next year. I predict the final game will be Ensworth vs Baylor. With Ensworth taking home the gold ball. BA will make it to semi-final against Baylor and lose in a close game. Ensworth and Baylor would have to be the favorites to reach the finals....but if that happens I would disagree with worth taking home the gold ball. Baylor beat Ensworth....41-14 this year. I think Baylor would win again. Remember it took Ensworth virtually the last play of the game last to to escape and beat Baylor for the championship. If it happens again...I would take Baylor. That would be a great story. I'd hate to see either lose that one, but I would have to pull for the boys from Memphis.

While I do think MUS can beat McCallie or BGA I have no doubt that Ensworth will beat the boys from Memphis. 6 TOs or not. Ensworth vs. Baylor repeat with Ensworth taking home the gold ball again. Baylor waxed Ensworth earlier this season, but have I doubt the Ensworth coaching staff and the players will let that happen again Edited November 2, 2011 by cats1031
PSU
Just out of curiosity, why isn't Brentwood Academy mentioned on this board in conversations regarding the championship game?
LouPickney
Just out of curiosity, why isn't Brentwood Academy mentioned on this board in conversations regarding the championship game? BA deserves mention -- they have a great team. A potential semifinal matchup with Baylor would be a rematch of BA's 10-7 win over the Red Raiders, the only loss Baylor had this year. That game was in Brentwood; the rematch would be in Chattanooga. If BA won that, they'd possibly have to face Ensworth in the II-AA Championship Game, the only II-AA team that beat BA this season. shakinthefat
Just out of curiosity, why isn't Brentwood Academy mentioned on this board in conversations regarding the championship game? BA should be in the discussion, but in my opinion they will end up playing Baylor, at Baylor and will not come away with a win. Beating Baylor twice in one season will be tough. Baylor did not play up to there potential in the 1st BA game (turnovers). Ensworth will walk thru the other bracket and meet Baylor. Hard to beat Ensworth twice in one year plus Ensworth has the mental advantage over Baylor due to last years championship game. So Ensworth will repeat. Sorry Memphis just not your year to win. SafeT
For BA beat to beat Baylor in Chattanooga, for a second time, would be pretty hard. However, BA has the potential to beat anybody in Div II, including ENS if they were having a good night. Baylors win against ENS earlier this season showed what could happen if a team was on while the other was having a bad night. There is still a lot of football to be played and anything could happen. I think a huge upset lurks somewhere in these brackets.

I have to disagree. Ensworth would not have a mental advantage because they won last year. Baylor's pounding of Ensworth this year got the mental thing out of the way. Add to that...that Baylor lead the entire way in the championship game until the very end. It would be a very good game for sure if it happens. Hard to beat a team twice in the same year like the caliber of Ensworth, BA or Baylor. Ensworth finds ways to win in the playoff games. Ensworth will have their backs against the wall again this year but will find a way to win. Coaches at Ensworth know how to win. All this being said with the premise that Elder stays healthy and plays. If for some reason he is out IMO Ensworth will lose to MUS.

I would hardly call Baylor fumbling 6 times and recovering the 1st 5 "not playing up to their potential". I call that fortunate. Baylor hung in that game with a great deal of luck and some of the most questionable officiating this fan has ever seen. All that being said, beating Baylor in Chatt will be a tall order. oblong
Just out of curiosity, why isn't Brentwood Academy mentioned on this board in conversations regarding the championship game? I would say the majority of followers of DII football are skeptical that BA is capable of winning big games. The last 4 years are full of losses that should have never happened. BA has arguably had more talent than any team over that span, and have found a way to beat themselves more often than losing outright to a superior team. Maybe this year it will be different.
