Make that 35-6 at the end of the third!

Very impressed with the coaching strategy and playcalling of Oak Ridge. Someone on the Wildcat staff studied films well and found a weakness in McMinn's defense. McMinn isn't playing well at all (turnovers and penalties), but I'm not taking anything away from Oak Ridge. The Wildcats have pretty well controlled the game since the beginning.

McMinn Coach Bo Cagle (from my memory of his post-game comments):

"Offensively, Oak Ridge's early success running the ball opened up our secondary and OR's QB was very accurate with his passing and their receivers ran great routes. OR trapped very effectively on the running plays, and McMinn's defense spent way too much time on the field in the first half.

McMinn's offense was affected by the timing of the passing plays between the new QB and receivers. McMinn's best running back, Patrick Lindsey, twisted his ankle early in the game and just couldn't go full speed. Every time the Cherokees got something going offensively they turned the ball over or had an ill-timed penalty.

We seemed flat in pre-game warmups. Take nothing away from Oak Ridge, though, they're a very solid team, well coached and their players executed very well."

McMinn's sophomore QB played very well tonight. He did have a couple errors but overall he is NOT the reason McMinn did not come home with the win. OR out played McMinn hands down. They were better coached and better disciplined. Personal fouls game after game after game after game shows a lack of respect for team mates, a lack of respect for the game and a lack of respect for the coaches. Personal fouls have been a problem for this team all year long and it seems to be obvious that it has gone unnoticed hence the ejection of our QB against Bradley. One player is proud to have a nickname because of his 10 personal fouls this year.

This team has done great things this year and I am very proud to come home as district champs. It's just very disappointing to hear a coach say his offense was affected by the passing plays because of a new QB. We had receivers give up tonight. Three different times 2 separate WR quit running. That is not the QB fault. We tried running #2 all night long. Didn't work.

Good season Cherokees. Keep your heads up.

What a great game for the Wildcats. Congrats on a great win! Too bad some dirty playing by the Cherokees put a bit of a sour note on the game. I have never seen so many late hits and cheap shots in one game. It is really too bad the officials (I use that loosely, because they really sucked!) let a game of this importance get so out of hand so early and just let it play out that way. McMinn County has really nice facilities and some of their players displayed great sportsmanship through most of the game. Halftime show was probably the best I have seen this year. Great place to watch a football game, but I will never approach a game at McMinn County with the same attitude as I usually do. The McMinn County coaching staff should be absolutely embarrassed at the way they set some of their players conduct themselves on the field. The display I watched tonight does nothing to help McMinn Counties reputation or status in the region. Now I guess we know why their starting QB did not play tonight. Appears as if some coaches and parents in McMinn County need to do soul searching and life coaching, because some of their kids obviously do not know how to handle themselves.

They got what they deserved...a good ole fashioned woodshed butt kickin! 35-6 ROLL CATS!

I think you're overreacting to what Bo was implying......he wasn't blaming anyone, just stating a fact. Bo actually bragged on Trevor for doing an admirable job.

Every QB has different tendencies just as every receiver does. Practicing and playing with the same set, both the QB and receiver learn those tendencies over the season, or several seasons. Throw in a new QB with only 3 meaningful days of practice, playing against a very good OR team, and it's hard for the QB and receiver to read each other - thus the understandable errors regardless of who they were on.

As far as the penalties, I agree with you....it's been our nemesis all year, and I hope the coaching staff works on reducing them next year.

It's been a tremendous season for this team of overachievers!

As a Cherokee parent, please know that I agree with you 100%. I am also embarrassed that our coaches allow so much from the players. But, some of parents do teach our kids to play with respect & love for the game.

I agree, the refs lost control early and seemed as though they just considered it part of playing at McMinn Co. That's not meant to be a slam on the Cherokees but sometimes it is what it is. Cheap shot after cheap shot. Even coach Blade , who by the way, did a great job keeping his players composed and above this redneck garbage, had to ask a ref why he wouldn't call a penalty when, after the whistle, a McMinn player grabs the jersey of a wildcat and throws him down.... AT THE REFS FEET!!! McMinn has nothing to be proud of tonight.

They even had to escort an old man who apparently was somehow affiliated with the Cherokees out for being ugly with the wildcats cheerleaders. Was picking up thier signs " messing " with them then got ugly with a girl when she asked him to quit and smacked her on the butt with it. Dirty players and dirty old men........Glad to be done with them.

I'm very sure you do and I respect you for it.It's sad for coaches to let unsportsmanlike players to continue to play. I really enjoy coming to Athens, maybe we will meet again.

Glad to hear some class from McMinn. As long as parents recognize the need, the changes can be made. Good luck and please, don't go after our coach!!!! :thumb:
